While the ocean eventually washes these materials back onto the sand, the damage beneath the surface is already done. Here is how our daily waste directly impacts marine life and vital sanctuary zones:
๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ญ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ : Coastal debris creates physical barriers for nesting sea turtles trying to reach dry sand. Hatchlings can easily become trapped in plastic waste or drift debris on their path back to the sea.
Shallow coastal waters and mangroves serve as essential breeding and nursing grounds for local fish species. Microplastics and toxic chemical runoff degrade these habitats, threatening marine biodiversity at its roots.
Floating plastic containers break down into smaller fragments that marine animals mistake for food, leading to internal injuries, starvation, and toxic buildup across the marine food chain.
