PEACE AND PUBLIC SAFETY. Mayora Mayette Javellana presided over the 2nd Quarter Joint Meeting of the City Peace and Order Council (CPOC), City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC), POPS-Technical Working Group (TWG), and Special Action Committees (SAC) at the Community Center today, June 2.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders to discuss the proposed Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) Plan and Budget for CY 2027, updates on peace and order initiatives and anti-drug programs.

GLOBE VISIT. Representatives from Globe Telecom paid a courtesy visit to Mayora Mayette Javellana to provide updates on the company’s network improvement initiatives in the city.

During the meeting, Globe reaffirmed its commitment to achieve 100 percent 5G coverage in Bago City by the end of the year.

The company also shared plans to fast-track the rollout of its fiber broadband services, bringing faster and more reliable internet connectivity to more households, businesses, and institutions throughout the city.

Globe further discussed its plans to utilize Starlink technology to help extend internet coverage to areas with limited or no signal, ensuring that more communities across Bago City will have access to reliable connectivity.

DR. ROWENA V. BAÑES FORMALLY INSTALLED AS BAGO CITY COLLEGE PRESIDENT

A new chapter in the history of Bago City College (BCC) unfolded as Dr. Rowena V. Bañes was formally invested and installed as the institution’s new College Administrator/President during a solemn ceremony on June 1.

The investiture and installation ceremony marked a significant milestone for BCC as it welcomed a respected educator, psychologist, counselor, and academic leader to steer the institution toward greater heights of excellence and innovation.

Mayora Mayette Javellana, together with members of the Board of Trustees and local government officials, led the rites that formally conferred upon Dr. Bañes the authority and responsibility of leading the city-run higher education institution. The ceremony symbolized the trust and confidence bestowed upon her to guide BCC in fulfilling its mission of providing accessible and quality education to the youth of Bago City.

In her inaugural address, Dr. Bañes expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the institution and its students. She emphasized the importance of transformational leadership, academic excellence, and collaborative partnerships in shaping a future-ready Bago City College.

Known for her extensive experience in higher education, guidance and counseling, and psychology, Dr. Bañes brings with her decades of service in academia and a strong advocacy for student development, mental wellness, and values-centered education. Her appointment is expected to strengthen BCC’s efforts in expanding academic opportunities and enhancing institutional growth.

The investiture gathered representatives from educational institutions, government agencies, faculty members, staff, students, alumni, community partners and families and friends of Dr. Bañes all united in celebrating a new era of leadership for her and the college.

As Dr. Bañes assumes the presidency, the Bago City College community looks forward to a future guided by her vision, experience, and dedication to educational advancement, one that will continue to inspire generations of learners and uphold the institution’s legacy of service and excellence.
