The Department of the Interior and Local Government - Cordillera Administrative Region (DILG-CAR) represented by LGOO VI Shaquile L. Buraga, Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU) Chief, together with DILG-CAR and DILG-Baguio City Field Office personnel, conducted a monitoring and evaluation for the following projects funded under the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF):

1. Purchase of Vehicle - Ambulance
2. Construction of Water Supply and Sanitation Project (Buyog Rainwater Harvesting System) in City of Baguio
3. Development and/or Rehabilitation of Public Parks and Plaza in Barangay Legarda-Burnham-Kisad
4. Construction of Persons with Disability (PWD) Multi-Purpose Building in Barangay Irisan, City of Baguio
5. Purchase and Installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Surveillance System in the Central Business District, City Of Baguio

This regular conduct of inspections were being done to ensure that the projects being funded by the National Government through LGSF are implemented in accordance with national standards, properly documented, and ensure timely completion.

Further, the inspection team reiterated the importance of regular encoding and updating of status of projects in the SubayBayan System. The SubayBayan is the official monitoring and reporting system of the DILG and serves as the basis of status of projects of the national level.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government-Cordillera (DILG-CAR), local chief executives, LGU officials and functionaries, and national government agencies from all over the region joined forces to chart the direction of the future of local governance during the first day of the Cordillera's 35th Local Government Month Celebration.

The activity subtitled, "Tatag ng Pamahalaang Lokal; Alab ng Puso at Dangal" was headlined by the High-Level Policy Meeting under the Local Government Code Review and Amendment Program (LGC RevAmP) which was prefaced by discussions from Dr. Alex B. Brillantes, Jr., Professor Emeritus of the UP National College of Public Administration and Governance, and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong who presented their perspectives on the trends and shifts that helped refine and inform the amendments to the LGC.

The LGC RevAmP sought to engage LGU stakeholders in reviewing the regional policy options for proposed LGC amendments that were categorized in four priority reform areas, namely: Fiscal Reform, Service Delivery, Local Autonomy, and Operational and Administrative Reforms.

DILG-CAR Regional Director Atty. Anthony C. Nuyda, CESO III, in his message, said that the local governance is never static and it must continuously evolve with the changing needs of the people. He said that the proposed amendments to the LGC should be reflective of the prevailing needs and contexts of the Cordilleras and must facilitate the future-proofing of the code.

This also featured the launching of the Bahaginan and CAPDEV8 by Ms. Leah Marie Sanchez of the Local Government Academy (LGA).

Through the first day of the LG Month Celebration, the DILG-CAR reaffirms its commitment to becoming trusted partners of the LGUs by ensuring that their needs and concerns are adequately represented in proposed policies that are designed to shape the local governance landscape.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government - Baguio City Field Office (DILG-BCFO), represented by LGOO III Joseph D. Lopez, joins City Government of Baguio in the 4th Quarter Meeting of its Local Council on Disability Affairs on October 19, 2026 at the Tugos Hotel, Baguio City.

The meeting covered the update on the proposed ordinances promoting Persons with Disability (PWD) welfare. Further, implemented and upcoming projects, programs, and activities of the LCDA were presented. One of the key agenda is the discussion of RA No. 9442 or the Magna Carta for Disabled Persons, which prohibits public ridicule and vilification of PWDs.
