KIANGAN, Ifugao- Farmers’ associations have identified changing weather patterns, increasing pest and disease occurrence, fluctuating market prices, and the need for improved farming practices as major concerns affecting agricultural productivity and livelihood sustainability during the Participatory Needs Assessment (PNA) held on last October last 13-15, 2026.

The assessment gathered insights from the BALOPA Agricultural Workers Association, Galwago United Farmers Organization, Mungayang Farmers Association, and Aldattan ad Pindongan Organic Farmers Association in Kiangan, Ifugao. Their observations highlighted the growing challenges farmers face in managing crops amid unpredictable weather conditions, prolonged dry periods, heavy rainfall, typhoons, and emerging pest and disease problems.

FLORA, Apayao - Farmers’ associations in the municipality of Flora, Apayao, are identifying locally appropriate and climate-resilient agricultural technologies through Participatory Needs Assessments (PNAs), aimed at strengthening farm productivity, improving climate-risk preparedness, and addressing the learning needs of farming communities.

The assessments provided a platform for farmers to share their experiences, identify production constraints, discuss climate-related risks, and determine appropriate interventions based on their existing farming practices and local conditions. The discussions also served as a foundation for developing Climate-Resilient Agriculture (CRA) Learning Plans and identifying initial environmental and social safeguards for proposed interventions.

MAYOYAO, Ifugao-Farmers’ firsthand experiences with changing weather patterns are shaping the next phase of climate-resilient agriculture interventions under the Adapting Philippine Agriculture to Climate Change (APA) Project, as four farmers’ organizations identified their priority learning needs through a Participatory Needs Assessment (PNA) recently.

The assessment provided a platform for farmers to share their experiences on how erratic rainfall, prolonged dry spells, and shifting weather patterns affect crop production and farm management. These climate-related challenges have increased the risks of pest and disease infestations, contributing to reduced yields and poor quality agricultural produce.
