DTI-Abra held its Organizational Culture and Teambuilding Activity on October 22, 2026, bringing employees together through fun games, sports activities, and shared meals that strengthened teamwork, camaraderie, and workplace relationships.

The activity also included a send-off program for Ma. Christina del Rosario, Trade-Industry Development Analyst (TIDA), in recognition of her 10 years of service with DTI. Her dedication and contributions to the organization were acknowledged as she embarks on a new chapter in her career.

Beyond the games and celebrations, the activity served as a reminder that a strong organization is built not only on shared goals but also on mutual respect, meaningful connections, and appreciation for every team member.

DTI-ABRA, DILG, AND LGU BANGUED STRENGTHEN BARANGAY-LEVEL PRICE MONITORING

BANGUED, Abra — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Abra, in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bangued, conducted a Barangay Local Price Coordinating Council (LPCC) Orientation in Barangays Zone 2 and Zone 7, Bangued, Abra.

The activity aimed to equip barangay officials with the knowledge and skills needed to monitor the prices of basic necessities and prime commodities (BNPCs) in their communities. It also covered the provisions of the Price Act and the functions and responsibilities of the Barangay LPCC.

The orientation emphasized the importance of regular price monitoring in tracking market trends, assessing the availability and supply of essential goods, and providing timely information to guide appropriate government action when needed.

Through this initiative, barangay officials are encouraged to take an active role in promoting fair pricing, market transparency, and consumer protection at the community level.

DTI-Abra, DILG, and LGU Bangued continue to strengthen collaboration with local communities to protect consumer welfare and support fair and stable market conditions.

LGU BANGUED, DTI-ABRA ENSURE ACCURATE WEIGHING SCALES AT PUBLIC MARKET

BANGUED, Abra — The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bangued, under the leadership of Mayor Perfecto B. Cardenas, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Abra, conducted the calibration of weighing scales at the Bangued Public Market as part of the observance of Consumer Welfare Month 2026.

The activity aimed to ensure that weighing scales used in market transactions provide accurate measurements, helping protect consumers from short weighing and promoting fair trade between buyers and sellers.

Regular calibration and monitoring help ensure that consumers receive the correct quantity of goods for the amount they pay, while also encouraging business establishments to comply with applicable regulations.

Through this joint initiative, LGU Bangued and DTI-Abra reaffirm their commitment to protecting consumer rights and promoting a fair and transparent marketplace in line with this year’s Consumer Welfare Month theme, “Safe Products, Confident Consumers.”

ABRA MSMEs STRENGTHEN DIGITAL SKILLS THROUGH AI, MARKETING, AND CYBERSECURITY TRAINING

BANGUED, Abra — Nineteen micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Abra strengthened their digital capabilities through a two-day training on “Digital Empowerment for MSMEs: AI, Digital Marketing, and Cybersecurity” held on October 12–13, 2026, at the Abra Provincial Capitol Social Hall.

The training was conducted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Abra and the Provincial Government of Abra.

Participants from the coffee, wearables and homestyles, loom weaving, furniture, processed food, services, and retail sectors learned how to promote and sell their products through online platforms such as Facebook Marketplace, TikTok Business, and Shopee.

The sessions also covered practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) for content creation and business productivity, as well as cybersecurity practices to protect business information and promote safer online transactions.

The training was facilitated by DICT Provincial Officer Rufino G. Cabato and DTC Center Manager Jerome L. Paite, who shared practical knowledge to help MSMEs make better use of digital tools in managing and growing their businesses.

Through this collaborative initiative, DICT, DTI-Abra, and the Provincial Government of Abra continue to support local enterprises in adapting to digital technologies, expanding their market reach, and becoming more competitive in an increasingly digital business environment.

DTI ABRA, PIA LEAD KAPIHAN ON CONSUMER WELFARE

BANGUED, Abra — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Abra, in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)–Abra, conducted a Kapihan on October 13, 2026, as part of the observance of Consumer Welfare Month, promoting awareness of consumer rights, responsibilities, and product safety.

Anchored on this year’s theme, “Safe Products, Confident Consumers,” the activity provided an opportunity for government agencies to share information on their respective programs and initiatives that help protect consumers and guide them in making informed decisions.

Representing DTI-Abra OIC-Provincial Director Marvin T. Arcangel was Rommel B. Bustarga, OIC of the Consumer Protection Division. He discussed consumer rights, product safety, and the importance of responsible purchasing.

Representatives from partner agencies also shared their roles in protecting the public: Honeyrose KC Arias and Nela Georgina Domingo of the Department of Health (DOH); Junel B. Favorito of the Department of Agriculture (DA); Heherson Astrande, SFO2, of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP); and Elmer Timbreza and Racquel Pineda of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

The discussion highlighted the shared responsibility of government agencies and consumers in promoting public health, food safety, fire safety, and environmental protection. It also emphasized the importance of providing accurate information to help consumers make safe and responsible choices.

Through activities like the Kapihan, DTI-Abra continues to strengthen partnerships and promote consumer awareness toward a safer, fairer, and more informed marketplace for all.
