WANTED CARNAPPING SUSPECT, COHORT ARRESTED IN QUEZON CITY; TWO FI****MS RECOVERED
A wanted individual facing five outstanding warrants for alleged carnapping offenses was arrested along with his companion in a police operation in Quezon City early Friday, October 30, resulting in the recovery of two fi****ms and am******on.
The operation reflects the continuing efforts of the Philippine National Police (PNP), under the leadership of Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief PNP, to locate individuals with outstanding warrants and address criminal activities that threaten public safety, particularly vehicle theft and the unlawful possession of fi****ms.
At around 5:45 a.m., personnel of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), through Pasong Putik Police Station 16, with support from Police Station 15, intercepted the two individuals along Tacloban Street, Barangay Vasra, Diliman, while riding a white Yamaha Aerox motorcycle.
The primary subject, 20, was wanted under five warrants of arrest for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 10883, or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016. His 23-year-old companion was also arrested after reportedly attempting to draw a concealed fi***rm and resisting arrest during the encounter.
Police recovered a .40-caliber pistol loaded with five rounds of am******on, an unregistered .38-caliber revolver loaded with four rounds, and the motorcycle used by the two individuals. Investigators are also examining the possible connection of the arrested individuals to a motorcycle carnapping incident reported on October 25 in Barangay Pasong Putik Proper.
Police records further indicate that the primary subject has other pending cases and reported involvement in several alleged criminal activities, including multiple carnapping incidents. These records, along with the circumstances surrounding the latest operation, are being subjected to further investigation and appropriate legal proceedings.
Chief PNP PGen Nartatez emphasized that the operation reflects the importance of pursuing outstanding warrants and acting on reliable information to prevent further criminal activities.
“Ang mahalaga, hindi natin pinababayaan ang mga kasong dapat aksyunan. When our personnel receive reliable information, they must act promptly, work together, and make sure that everything is done properly and within the law. We owe it to the public to take these responsibilities seriously and make our communities safer,” Chief PNP PGen Nartatez said.
He stressed that the PNP will continue pursuing carnapping cases and illegal fi****ms through stronger intelligence gathering, close coordination, and lawful police operations.
The operation supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s peace and order agenda and the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), through timely and coordinated action against criminal activities.
The PNP also urges the public to report suspicious activities involving stolen vehicles and illegal fi****ms through official police channels. Through sustained police-community cooperation, the PNP remains committed to delivering Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.
