07 October 2026 | Fire Safety Inspection of Government-Owned Establishments

Under the leadership of FCSUPT JUNITO F MASLANG, DSC, Regional Director, and under the direct supervision of FSUPT JOSEPH S ASI, CPA, Acting Provincial Fire Marshal BFP - Camarines Norte, Basud Fire Station, headed by SFO3 Eden E Ponayo, Officer-in-Charge.

Basud Fire Station personnel FO3 Hazel B Yongco, FO3 Jefferson N Azur and FO1 Mark Jay V Sayson, conducted a Fire Safety Inspection at a government-owned establishment to assess its compliance with fire safety standards and identify potential fire hazards that may endanger occupants, properties, and public service operations. The inspection was conducted using Body-Worn Cameras (BWC) to promote transparency, accountability, and proper documentation throughout the activity.

Personnel emphasized the importance of good housekeeping, as proper storage and cleanliness help minimize combustible materials and reduce fire risks. They also reminded the establishment to maintain unobstructed exits and passageways to ensure safe and immediate evacuation during emergencies. Particular attention was given to worn-out electrical wires, uncovered fuse boxes, and excessive use of extension cords, which may cause electrical overload, short circuits, and potentially fire incidents.

A brief discussion of the inspection findings was conducted after the activity to explain the observed deficiencies and the necessary corrective measures.

The activity aims to strengthen fire safety awareness, encourage compliance with the Fire Code of the Philippines (RA 9514), and prevent fire incidents through proactive identification and correction of hazards.

The establishment was likewise reminded that BFP personnel are not authorized to sell or endorse specific suppliers of fire extinguishers, in accordance with applicable provisions of RA 9514.
