DA-PCC-NIAS welcomes newly appointed personnel in its R&D stations

The DA-Philippine Carabao Center-National Institute for Animal Sciences (DA-PCC-NIAS) formally welcomed its newly appointed personnel through an oath-taking ceremony presided over by Dr. Liza G. Battad, Executive Director, at the DA-PCC-NIAS Office of the Executive Director, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.

The ceremony marked an important milestone in the professional journey of the newly appointed personnel as they officially assumed their respective positions:

In her message, Dr. Battad encouraged the newly appointed personnel to pursue graduate studies and continuously enhance their knowledge and competencies, not only for their professional growth but, more importantly, to strengthen the services they provide to the agency’s clients and stakeholders.

She also challenged them to practice congruence with their supervisors, professionalism, and integrity in carrying out their responsibilities. More than simply fulfilling their duties, she encouraged them to “be a relevant help” to their respective offices, teams, and the communities they serve.

Director Battad likewise emphasized the importance of pursuing meaningful and relevant research. She encouraged the newly appointed researchers to look into pressing concerns and develop studies that can generate practical solutions to existing problems in the carabao industry.

IN PHOTOS | The DA-Philippine Carabao Center at Mariano Marcos State University (DA-PCC at MMSU) has secured its Certificate of Compliance from the Professional Regulatory Board of Veterinary Medicine, reinforcing the center’s commitment to professional, ethical, and legally compliant veterinary services.

The certificate was issued on June 4, 2026 and formally claimed on September 28, 2026 at the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Regional Field Office 1 in Rosales, Pangasinan.

The certification affirms the center’s compliance with the requirements of Republic Act No. 9268, or the Philippine Veterinary Medicine Act of 2004, providing the necessary legal authorization for veterinary-related activities, including clinical diagnostics, artificial insemination, animal health interventions, and biological research.

Beyond legal compliance, the certification strengthens the center’s adherence to professional and biosafety standards by ensuring that veterinary interventions, laboratory activities, and animal handling practices are carried out under the supervision of duly registered and licensed veterinarians.

Through this compliance, DA-PCC at MMSU continues to uphold the highest standards in veterinary practice and animal health in support of the sustainable development of the buffalo industry in Northern Luzon.

IN PHOTOS | To assess the performance, accomplishments, and challenges encountered by the Village-Based Artificial Insemination Technicians (VBAITs), the DA-Philippine Carabao Center at Mariano Marcos State University (DA-PCC at MMSU) conducted its quarterly meeting on September 30.

Led by William A. Gudoy, Artificial Insemination (AI) Coordinator of DA-PCC at MMSU, the meeting provided an avenue for the VBAITs to discuss their accomplishments, share field experiences, identify challenges, and explore ways to further improve the delivery of artificial insemination services to carabao raisers in their respective areas.

During the meeting, Delmar Ganduli was also recognized as the Outstanding VBAIT of the month for his commendable performance and contribution to the agency’s AI program.

The VBAITs reaffirmed their commitment to continue providing timely and quality reproductive services to farmers and supporting the agency’s efforts to improve carabao production and productivity in the region.

Ilocos Norte co-op, tumanggap ng 20 babaeng kalabaw

Ipinagkatiwala ng DA-Philippine Carabao Center sa Mariano Marcos State University (DA-PCC sa MMSU) ang 20 babaeng kalabaw sa Pagudpud Livestock and Poultry Raisers Agriculture (PALIPORA) Cooperative noong Setyembre 25 sa Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, upang makatulong sa pagpaparami ng mga de-kalidad na kalabaw at makapagbigay ng karagdagang mapagkakakitaan sa mga magsasaka.

Pinangunahan ni DA-PCC sa MMSU officer-in-charge-center director Joel F. Cabading ang entrustment kasama ang mga kinatawan ng national at local government.

Bilang bahagi ng programa, patuloy na tutulungan ng DA-PCC sa MMSU ang kooperatiba sa pamamagitan ng technical assistance, veterinary and animal health services, reproductive monitoring, artificial insemination, at mga pagsasanay upang mapanatiling malusog, produktibo, at maparami ang mga ipinagkatiwalang kalabaw. 424 bata sa Sinait, kabilang sa 2nd batch ng milk feeding program

Aabot sa 424 bata mula sa mga child development center sa Sinait, Ilocos Sur ang makikinabang sa ikalawang batch ng milk feeding program ng DA-Philippine Carabao Center sa Mariano Marcos State University (DA-PCC sa MMSU) at lokal na pamahalaan ng Sinait na inilunsad noong Setyembre 29.

Sa pangunguna ni DA-PCC sa MMSU milk feeding coordinator Melinda Galacgac, tatanggap ang bawat bata ng pasteurized na gatas ng kalabaw na may chocolate flavor sa loob ng 88 araw. [Ni: Ivy Jane Guanzon]
