In celebration of International Kangaroo Mother Care Day and World Human Milk Donation Day, the Mother-Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (MBFHI) Committee of Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC), under the leadership of Dr. Maria Lourdes K. Otayza, successfully conducted a series of lectures on Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC), Human Milk Banking (HMB), and the importance of breastfeeding at the Out-Patient Department Covered Court last May 20, 2026.
This activity aimed to promote awareness on the life-saving benefits of skin-to-skin care, human milk donation, and exclusive breastfeeding in improving the health and well-being of newborns, especially for preterm and low birth weight infants.
This yearβs International Kangaroo Mother Care Day theme, βStillness is Strength,β highlights the powerful impact of skin-to-skin contact in nurturing and protecting newborns through warmth, bonding, and compassionate care. Meanwhile, the World Human Milk Donation Day theme, βSolidarity that Nourishes, Life that Grows,β emphasizes the importance of shared support and human milk donation in giving vulnerable infants a healthier start in life.
Through continuous education, advocacy, and community support, MMMH&MC remains dedicated to promoting compassionate, family-centered care for mothers and infants.
The institution continues to champion human milk donation and Kangaroo Mother Care, helping create healthier beginnings and brighter futures for every child.
