๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), through Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Mabini, provided vital transportation assistance to students and parents affected by a recent landslide in Sitio Guitisan, Barangay San Teodoro, Mabini, Batangas, on 05 October 2026.

The incident, which occurred on 02 October 2026, resulted in a roadway obstruction that caused significant inconvenience to local residents and motorists attempting to pass through the area. While no casualties were reported, two families were evacuated to safer areas within Brgy. San Teodoro.

To address the access challenges brought about by the landslide, CGSS Mabini personnel assisted students and parents traveling to Brgy. San Teodoro Elementary School. Departing Sitio Guitisan aboard a boat at approximately 6:00 AM, the group arrived safely at the school in time for classes.

The transportation assistance was carried out in direct response to the road blockage, ensuring that affected students could continue their education without safety risks.

The Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog (CGDSTL) extends its sincere gratitude to Mr. Christian Manalo, owner of MBCA EZEYANNA, which was utilized to transport the students and parents from Sitio Guitisan en route to Brgy. San Teodoro Elementary School.

The PCG continues to actively coordinate with local authorities and communities to provide critical emergency assistance and safeguard residents affected by hazardous conditions.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š: Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Mabini, conducted a Tabletop Exercise (TTX) and Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) involving a simulated man-overboard incident in the vicinity waters off Brgy. Talaga East, Mabini, Batangas, on 24 September 2026.

The exercise involved personnel from CGSS Mabini, Coast Guard Station (CGS) Batangas, Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) 502 Squadron , Municipal Police Station (MPS) Mabini , Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Mabini , Bantay Dagat, Montenegro Shipping Lines Inc., and other concerned stakeholders.

The simulated scenario involved two passengers who fell overboard from MV City of Himamaylan while en route from Talaga Port to Tingloy. Upon receipt of the simulated distress information, CGSS Mabini coordinated with concerned agencies and activated the Command Post and Search and Rescue Team.

At about 0910H, the two passengers were located and successfully rescued at about 0920H. They were brought ashore for medical assistance and transported to Mabini Rural Health Unit, where both were assessed safe and in good physical condition.

The activity strengthened the preparedness, coordination, and decision-making capabilities of participating agencies in responding to maritime emergencies and reinforced inter-agency cooperation in ensuring a timely SAR response.

The Philippine Coast Guard remains committed to strengthening maritime search and rescue capabilities and the preservation of life at sea.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) responded to a reported smoke emission incident involving a passenger/cargo vessel approximately 1.8 nautical miles off Balahibong Manok, Tingloy, Batangas, at around 10:43 PM on September 20, 2026.

According to the vesselโ€™s Master, the vessel, en route from Batangas Port to Abra de Ilog, had 30 crew members and 16 oil tanker trucks onboard. No injuries were reported, and the smoke emission was brought under control through the vesselโ€™s emergency procedures.

Upon arrival, the Coast Guard Sub-Station Tingloy Search and Rescue (SAR) Team conducted an initial inspection. Based on the statement of the vesselโ€™s Master, the main engine service tank allegedly overflowed, causing diesel fuel to escape through the breather pipe and resulting in thick black smoke.

The vessel was subsequently towed by a company tugboat and safely arrived at Batangas Port at around 5:00 AM on September 21. Further inspection and repairs will be conducted, while the PCG will continue its investigation and coordinate with the concerned authorities for appropriate action.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), initiated a dialogue with Filipino seafarers and maritime cadets at the Port of Batangas on September 20, 2026, in observance of the 31st National Seafarersโ€™ Day and 27th National Maritime Week.

Coast Guard Station Batangas, the engagement provided a platform for open discussion on maritime safety, emergency preparedness, seafarer welfare, maritime security, and the respective roles of seafarers, maritime cadets, and the Coast Guard in ensuring safe and efficient maritime operations.

An open forum also provided participants an opportunity to raise questions, concerns, and recommendations based on their experiences at sea.

Participants likewise raised concerns on emergency preparedness, seafarer welfare, and communication between vessel Masters and the PCG during adverse weather conditions, particularly in addressing weather-related vessel delays and operational restrictions.

The dialogue reinforced the importance of timely communication, proper coordination, and shared responsibility among seafarers, vessel operators, port authorities, and the PCG in ensuring safe and efficient maritime operations.

Through the initiative, CGS Batangas strengthened its engagement with the maritime community and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the safety and welfare of Filipino seafarers.
