CDRRMO contacted the DSS Office regarding information that several children were seen fishing underneath Calumpang Bridge while the water level of the river was continuously rising, posing a possible danger to their safety.
Upon receipt of the information, DSS-SRU immediately proceeded to the area to verify the situation and provide necessary assistance.
Upon arrival, the DSS-SRU personnel led by Deputy Director Jimmy De Chavez located the children and advised them to immediately leave the area and proceed to a safe place due to the increasing water level and the potential danger of being swept away by the strong current.
The children were safely escorted away from the riverbank and also reminded them and other individuals in the area to avoid fishing or staying underneath the bridge, particularly during periods of rising water levels.
The DSS-SRU will continue to monitor the area and coordinate with CDRRMO and other concerned agencies to ensure the safety of the public, especially children, during situations involving rising river levels.
