Local Government Code @ 35!
As we commemorate the 35th Anniversary of the Local Government Code of 1991, hear the inspiring messages of local chief executives from MIMAROPA as they reflect on three and a half decades of strengthened local autonomy, responsive governance, and meaningful public service.
A Message from Gov. Amy Roa Alvarez, Province of Palawan
โThe 35th Anniversary of Republic Act No. 7160, or the Local Government Code of 1991, is more than a celebration of local autonomy. For me, it is a reminder of our responsibility to make governance truly meaningful to the people we serve.
The greater authority entrusted to local governments has allowed us to shape programs and solutions based on the unique needs and realities of our communities. In Palawan, we carry this responsibility forward through our Provincial Development Agenda and the PALAWAN + PLUS Governance Frameworkโour commitment to make governance more responsive, collaborative, and integrated.
Through CAREGOV, we put people and their welfare at the heart of governance. Through SYNERGOV, we strengthen collaboration and partnerships among government, communities, and other stakeholders. Through INTEG360, we pursue integrated and holistic solutions, ensuring that our development efforts are connected and reach communities across Palawan.
These principles reflect what local autonomy should mean: the freedom to respond to local needs, coupled with the responsibility to deliver effective, accountable, and compassionate public service.
As we celebrate Local Government Month, I thank our local officials, government workers, development partners, and, most importantly, our Palaweรฑo communities for being part of this continuing journey.
Together, let us make local autonomy more than a constitutional mandate. Let us make it a living commitment to care, collaborate, integrate, and deliver meaningful development for every Palaweรฑoโ
