In celebration of World Heart Day today, September 29, 2026, the Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center โ€“ Mountain Province (DATRC-MP) joined Radyo Kataguwan 97.3 FM to raise awareness about heart health and the importance of preventing cardiovascular diseases through their program, DATRC-MP ON AIR.

During the program, Faith Kareen Isican, a nurse from DATRC-MP, discussed the risk factors for heart disease and shared practical tips on how to take care of our hearts.

Among the key points highlighted were the importance of regularly checking blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels, as well as recognizing risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking, physical inactivity, an unhealthy diet, excessive alcohol consumption, obesity, and chronic stress.

Listeners were also reminded that high blood pressure often has no noticeable symptoms, making regular health checkups essential for early detection and prevention.

To keep our hearts healthy, we are encouraged to:
โค๏ธ Eat a balanced and healthy diet.
โค๏ธ Engage in regular physical activity and exercise.
โค๏ธ Manage stress and get enough rest.
โค๏ธ Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.
โค๏ธ Have regular health checkups and monitor our blood pressure.

Our heart is a vital organ that works continuously to keep us alive. Let us take care of it by making healthy choices every day.

Know your numbers. Know your risks. Take action. Together, let us protect our hearts and promote a healthier community. โค๏ธ

The Department of Healthโ€“Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Centerโ€“Mountain Province (DOH-DATRC-MP) joined the 3rd Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) with 42 participants.

As part of the exercise, personnel carried out the โ€œDuck, Cover, and Holdโ€ procedure and responded to simulated casualties, putting into practice the appropriate actions during an earthquake scenario.

The Bureau of Fire Protectionโ€“Bauko served as evaluator, observing the conduct of the drill and the participantsโ€™ response to the simulated emergency.

Activities such as the NSED provide personnel with an opportunity to revisit emergency procedures, identify areas for improvement, and ensure that appropriate actions can be carried out when an actual earthquake occurs.

At DOH-DATRC-MP, every drill is an opportunity to be better prepared for the unexpected.
