𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗸 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘀! 🎉

The Municipality of Matag-ob, Leyte, in partnership with the Visayas State University, through the iCARE Philippines Project, successfully conducted the training titled "𝗖𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗼 𝗧𝘂𝗸𝗹𝗮𝘀: 𝗗𝗜𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗻," on September 19, 2026 at the Matag-ob Public Transport Terminal.

Dr. Lorina A. Galvez, Professor from the Department of Food Science and Technology, spearheaded the lecture sessions on the Processing Potentials of Cacao Tableya & Good Manufacturing Practices. Meanwhile, Ms. Sitinor B. Patulada, a faculty member from the Faculty of Nursing and cacao-tableya entrepreneur, led the hands-on activity of making chocolates and choco-drinks from her homemade tableya.

Through the activity, the municipality’s cacao farmers and tableya processors alike learned different ways in which they can innovate and add value to their crops/products that are not only profitable but also delectable for the target market.

As the Himorasak Festival continues to celebrate bountiful harvest, it sends a reminder that true abundance is not just measured by the volume of crops, but also by the value that can be added to them and the capacity being built for the people to do so.
