City of Baybay - Sangguniang Kabataan

Last February, we welcomed 275 Sangguniang Kabataan Officials from the Municipality of Dulag, Leyte for their SK CONGRESS 2026 in the City of Baybay. They were joined by Dulag Vice Mayor Hon. Rommel de Paz Capungcol and Dulag SK Federation President Hon. Jeric Tumandao🫶🏻

What a great way to start 2026!

As the work of the Sangguniang Kabataan becomes more technologically inclined, our City continues to ensure that we are equipped with the necessary tools to better serve our constituents. Various barangays received brand new sets of laptops and sound system to support their programs and initiatives.

At the same time, as one of the fastest growing sports today, pickleball is being promoted by our City through the distribution of pickleball equipment to selected barangays.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Regional Office VIII, in collaboration with CENRO Baybay and the Office of the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of Baybay City, Leyte conducted the ENR Youth Forum: “Kabataan Para sa Kalikasan,” marking the observance of Climate Change Consciousness Week and the Environmental Awareness Month.

The activity gathered Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials from Baybay City, strengthening their capacity to advance climate action, disaster resilience, and solid waste management in their communities. Resource speakers from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), and the Regional Office delivered sessions on geohazards, disaster risk reduction, waste management, clean air initiatives, and youth participation in climate action.

A hands-on workshop capped the forum, allowing participants to apply climate action and disaster preparedness concepts in practical scenarios.

Through this engagement, SK members of Baybay City are capacitated on their role for the greener, safer, and more resilient future for their constituents. Participants expressed strong interest in continuing collaboration with the DENR and in pursuing youth-led environmental initiatives across Baybay City.

The Norwegian Shipowner’s Association successfully conducted its scholarship examination last October 18-19 at the Baybay City Hall.
