🌿 Biodiversity Monitoring System (BMS) Activity | 2nd Semester CY 2026🦋🐦🌳

The Protected Area Management Office–Tinuy-an Falls Protected Landscape (PAMO-TFPL) successfully conducted its Second Semester Biodiversity Monitoring System (BMS) activity for Calendar Year 2026 from August 4 to 6, 2026, along the established two-kilometer BMS monitoring site within the Tinuy-an Falls Protected Landscape (TFPL).

The monitoring activity covered areas within Barangay Burboanan, Bislig City, and Barangay Manat, Trento, Agusan del Sur.

The BMS activity was conducted through the collaborative efforts of the PAMO-TFPL Technical Staff, CENRO Bunawan ADS representative PABEU Chief Vicar Carmelo, a representative from the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (City ENRO) of Bislig City, and members of the SDS Community Monitoring Group of Barangay Burboanan.

The monitoring results documented a total of 152 species, comprising 117 flora species and 35 fauna species, highlighting the rich biodiversity found within the Tinuy-an Falls Protected Landscape.

Another remarkable wildlife documentation! 🦅🌿 The Philippine Eagle (Pithecophaga jefferyi) was also successfully documented by our Community Monitoring Group (CMG) and the BAGANI of CADT 239 MATRICOSOBA highlighting the important role of Indigenous communities in protecting and conserving our precious wildlife and natural resources.

This activity demonstrates the continued commitment of PAMO-TFPL and its partners to biodiversity conservation, environmental monitoring, and the protection of the unique ecosystems within the protected landscape.

🌱 Together, let us protect and conserve the rich biodiversity of Tinuy-an Falls Protected Landscape for present and future generations.

The Protected Area Management Office – Tinuy-an Falls Protected Landscape (PAMO-TFPL) successfully participated in the Regional Reorientation/Capacitation on the Use and Management of the Protected Area Information System (PAIS) conducted on August 24–28, 2026, in Butuan City.

The activity was conducted as part of the continuing efforts of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to strengthen the capacity of field implementers in gathering, managing, updating, and utilizing reliable information for effective Protected Area management.

The activity aimed to enhance the participants’ understanding of accurate and updated protected area data, proper data encoding and updating, report generation, and effective management of information through PAIS. It also provided an avenue to identify system-related issues and concerns and strengthen coordination among PAIS administrators and Protected Area personnel.

Representing PAMO–TFPL, the activity was attended by:
👩‍💼 Geiza M. Padrogane
👩‍💼 Ruby B. Cocjin
👩‍💼 Sheila Mae Balaba

The reorientation serves as an important step toward ensuring quality, accessible, and reliable Protected Area information that supports management decisions, timely reporting, policy formulation, compliance with existing laws and regulations, and the conservation of our country’s biodiversity.

Accurate Data. Better Management. Stronger Conservation. 💚

Hug a tree today, protect a forest tomorrow, Together, we stand for nature and a greener future.🍀

The Protected Area Management Office of Tinuy-an Falls Protected Landscape (PAMO-TFPL) successfully conducted a Tree Hugging Campaign in celebration of the Tree Hugging Campaign Week spearheaded by the Forest Management Bureau.

As part of the activity, PAMO personnel symbolically embraced an Almon tree (Shorea almon), highlighting its ecological importance and reaffirming their commitment to forest protection, conservation, and sustainable management.

Today, we came together not just to hug trees, but to reflect on our shared responsibility to care for the environment. What may seem like a simple act carries a deeper meaning — it reminds us that nature gives us so much, and in return, we must also protect it.

Trees are part of our everyday lives. They give us fresh air to breathe, shade during hot days, protection from floods and soil erosion, and homes for many animals. Our forests are not just scenery — they are life sources for communities and future generations. When we hug a tree, we pause for a moment to appreciate its quiet strength and the many benefits it provides.

This activity reminds us that protecting the environment starts with small but meaningful actions. Every embrace is a personal promise — a promise to respect nature, to avoid harming it, and to do our part in conserving our forests.

Together, let us grow with nature and stand united in safeguarding our environment. 🌳💚
