Serving with Purpose: Cindy and Jessica’s Mission in Alab♥️
“Everyone has a mission. We may not always see the impact of what we do, but our smallest acts of service can touch someone’s life in meaningful ways."
For siblings Cindy and Jessica B. Ngayaan, these words capture the heart of their journey as missionaries. Coming from Rizal, Kalinga Province, they serve with Philippine Frontier Missions (PFM), a non-profit missionary organization based in Tartaria, Silang, Cavite. PFM trains missionaries for cross-cultural ministry, including understanding different cultures and learning languages as they prepare to live and serve in communities.
Before moving to Alab, Cindy and Jessica first stayed in Barangay Bontoc Ili,Bontoc,Mountain Province for two years. Their experience helped them learn how to live with and understand the community they were serving. This reflects PFM’s approach of having missionaries live and serve among the people while building relationships and sharing their faith through practical ways.
Today, Cindy and Jessica are more than missionaries in the community—they are also active stakeholders of Alab Elementary School. They share their time, skills, and talents to support the learners and contribute to the school’s programs.
One of their current activities is teaching ukulele, giving pupils an opportunity to discover their musical abilities and learn a new skill. They have also shared scouting skills, including knot tying and basic bandaging, helping learners gain practical knowledge that they can use in everyday life.
They have also volunteered as reading program tutors, assisting learners in developing their reading skills and becoming more confident readers. Through these activities, their contribution to the school goes beyond the usual classroom lessons.
For Cindy and Jessica, missionary work is not only about preaching. It is about being present, building relationships, helping others, and showing God’s love through service. Their work at Alab Elementary School is one way they put their mission into action.
Every ukulele lesson, scouting activity, reading session, and helping hand may seem simple, but each one can create a meaningful connection. As Cindy and Jessica say, “Everyone has a mission. We don’t know how we can touch other people’s lives.”
