💊 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

The Generic Medicine Awareness Month Celebration 2026 was held on September 10, 2026 in Bontoc, Mountain Province, under the theme “𝑲𝒂𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒖𝒈𝒂𝒏 𝒏𝒈 𝑩𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒕 𝑷𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒐, 𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝑲𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝑴𝒐.”

The celebration was conducted by the Department of Health–Mountain Province for nursing students with their clinical instructors of Mountain Province State University (MPSU).

Among the topics discussed were Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and Generic Medicines Awareness, focusing on the importance of promoting the responsible use of antibiotics, and Rational Use of Medicines (RUM), highlighting appropriate practices in medicine use. These topics were discussed by Ms. Ivy Joy Chaokas and Ms. Vina Rose Umayat, Pharmacist II.

Meanwhile, Ms. Purple Haste Fana-ang, HEPO II, discussed Effective Communication to Clients, emphasizing the importance of clear, accurate, and appropriate communication in providing health information and promoting better client understanding.

The activity provided an opportunity for nursing students to enhance their knowledge on responsible medicine use and effective health communication—important competencies that can be applied in their future practice as healthcare professionals.

The celebration concluded with the closing message of MPSU President Dr. Edgar G. Cue, delivered by Ms. Arel B. Sia-ed, Campus Administrator, underscoring the importance of continued collaboration and health education in promoting safe and responsible medicine use.

Through this initiative, DOH-MP and MPSU continue to strengthen health education and empower future healthcare professionals in promoting safe, effective, and responsible use of medicines for every Filipino.

𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐮𝐬𝐞.

The Provincial Department of Health Office–Mountain Province, together with the Municipal Government of Sagada through the Municipal Health Office and various local stakeholders, successfully conducted “𝐑𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲: 𝐒𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐝𝐚’𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐬” on September 17, 2026, in Sagada, Mountain Province.

The activity brought together motorcycle riders, tri-cab and jeepney drivers, delivery riders, uniformed personnel from the PNP, BFP, and BJMP, health workers, partner agencies, and community members in a collective effort to promote road safety, responsible road use, and the prevention of road-related injuries.

The activity began with a community motorcade from the Municipal Grounds to Maduto and back to the Municipal Grounds in Poblacion, Sagada, bringing the road safety advocacy message to the community and highlighting the shared responsibility of all road users in keeping roads safe.

Upon arrival at the municipal grounds, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨 𝐋𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐰𝐞𝐬, Executive Assistant to the Mayor, delivered the Welcome Remarks and Acknowledgement of Participants, recognizing the support and participation of the various stakeholders.

This was followed by Messages of Support for Road Safety from 𝐏𝐂𝐏𝐓 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐨 𝐏. 𝐅𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐝, Acting Chief of Police of Sagada MPS, and 𝐌𝐬. 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐏. 𝐓𝐮𝐝𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠, DMO IV. In her message, Ms. Tudlong thanked the Municipality of Sagada for taking on the challenge of promoting safer roads. She emphasized that road safety is not just a program—it is a shared responsibility that should be practiced by everyone every day.

The activity also featured a Road Safety and Injury Prevention discussion led by 𝐌𝐫. 𝐀𝐥𝐟𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐳𝐚 𝐉𝐫., CEO III, and 𝐌𝐬. 𝐄𝐯𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐨 of the Land Transportation Office–Mountain Province, covering the proper use of helmets and protective gear, traffic rules and road signs, hazard awareness, responsible road behavior, and measures to prevent common road-related injuries.

To make the activity engaging and interactive, participants took part in a question-and-answer activity on road safety, providing an opportunity to reinforce key road safety messages and encourage active participation among attendees.

𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐝 𝐁𝐮𝐲𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐧, Vice Mayor of Sagada, delivered the Closing Remarks, emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation among transport groups, government agencies, health workers, and the community in promoting road safety.

The activity served as a platform for strengthening collaboration, increasing awareness, and encouraging responsible road use, reinforcing a collective commitment to safer and more responsible roads in Sagada and the wider community.

𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐠 𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐨: 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐬𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐬𝐚 𝐋𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐭

September 14, 2026 | The Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat was held in the Provincial Plaza, Bontoc, Mountain Province, bringing essential government services closer to the people and providing communities with accessible and responsive health services.

In support of this year’s celebration, DOH-Mountain Province Office staff also joined the activity and assisted in the delivery of various health services, while DOH DTTBs and Human Resources for Health (HRH) personnel provided the following services:

• General health screening and consultation
• Dental Services
• Body Mass Index (BMI) assessment and nutrition counseling
• PhilPEN Risk Assessment
• SBCC
• Distribution of medicines and family planning commodities
• Physical therapy assessment
• Other essential health services

Meanwhile, PhilHealth, a partner in the delivery of health services, facilitated free registration to the Yaman ng Kalusugan (YAKAP) Program, helping community members gain access to appropriate and continuous healthcare services.

The participation of the DOH-Mountain Province Office in this year’s Handog ng Pangulo highlights the Department’s commitment to bringing health services closer to the people and strengthening collaboration among government partners to ensure that essential services reach those who need them most.

Through “Serbisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat,” the Handog ng Pangulo serves as a meaningful expression of public service—bringing government closer to communities and working toward a healthier, more empowered, and inclusive Philippines.
