🌊 802CDC, 8RCDG, RESCOM, PA FACILITATES WATER SEARCH AND RESCUE TRAINING (WASART) FOR THE 802ND (EASTERN SAMAR PROVINCE) READY RESERVE INFANTRY BATTALION PLATOON

📍 BORONGAN CITY, EASTERN SAMAR | 11 OCTOBER 2026

On 11 October 2026, starting at approximately 1:00 PM, thirty-six (36) personnel from the 802nd Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion, led by 2LT GARRY IRVING M. GO PA (RES), took part in Water Search and Rescue Training (WASART). The session focused on practical exercises in life-saving techniques and boat handling at Barangay Baybay Boulevard, Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

The activity was supervised by SSg Marlou L. Urbi (Inf) PA, Training Non-Commissioned Officer of the 802nd Community Defense Center (802CDC), 8th Regional Community Defense Group (8RCDG), Reserve Command, Philippine Army (RESCOM, PA), under the leadership of MAJ BETHUEL N. BARBER (Inf) PA, Center Director.

This training was conducted in collaboration with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) — Coast Guard Station Eastern Samar, led by SN1 Ainge L. Rueda, Team Leader; and the 502nd Combat Engineering Battalion (502 CEB), Combat Engineering Regiment (CER), Philippine Army, led by Cpl Dominic A. Sarocam (SC) PA. Their personnel served as instructors, sharing expertise in water safety, life-saving procedures, and proper boat handling.

🎯 OBJECTIVE
This training aimed to boost the participants’ knowledge, practical skills, and operational readiness for effective water search and rescue missions — especially during emergencies and disaster events. Through hands-on practice, our reservists honed their proficiency in life-saving techniques, safe boat operations, and coordinated rescue efforts.

This joint effort highlights the value of interagency partnership, teamwork, and continuous skills training — key to strengthening our Reserve Force’s capabilities and readiness to support Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) within our communities.

The training concluded at approximately 4:00 PM the same day.

🌊 802CDC, 8RCDG, RCPA CONDUCTS DAY 6 OF WATER SEARCH AND RESCUE TRAINING ON LIFE-SAVING TECHNIQUES TO THE 802ND READY RESERVE INFANTRY BATTALION PLATOON

In the morning, the 802nd Community Defense Center (H802CDC), 8th Regional Community Defense Group (8RCDG), Reserve Command, Philippine Army (RESCOM, PA), under the leadership of MAJ BETHUEL N BARBER (INF) PA, Director, facilitated a Water Search and Rescue Training (WASART) activity for the participants of the 802nd Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion (802RRIBn) at 802CDC, Barangay Alang-alang, Borongan City, Eastern Samar.
The morning session featured a lecture, discussion, and actual demonstration of life-saving techniques conducted by SN1 Ainge L. Rueda and SN2 Robert Francis U. Mandoy, instructors from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Coast Guard Station Eastern Samar.
In the afternoon, five (5) PCG instructors, led by SN1 Ainge L. Rueda as Team Leader, conducted practical exercises on life-saving techniques to enhance the participants’ knowledge and practical skills in water search and rescue operations. The exercises emphasized teamwork, preparedness, proper rescue procedures, and safety in responding to water-related emergencies.
The activity concluded at approximately 1700H on the same day, further strengthening the readiness and operational capabilities of the 802RRIBn WASART participants in responding to emergencies, disasters, and other water-related incidents.
The 8RCDG, RESCOM, PA, remains committed to enhancing the capabilities of its reservists through continuous training and collaboration with partner agencies in support of disaster response, humanitarian assistance, and community service.

LOOK | 802ND CDC, 8RCDG, RCPA JOINS 3RD QUARTER PROVINCIAL DRRM COUNCIL MEETING
BORONGAN CITY, EASTERN SAMAR | September 30, 2026

Personnel of the 802nd Community Defense Center, 8th Regional Community Defense Group, Reserve Command, Philippine Army participated in the 3rd Quarter Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) Meeting held at the ESDRRMO Conference Room, ESDRRMO Building, Capitol Site, Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

Representing the 802nd CDC were SSg Emmanuel E Estanes (Inf) PA, Personnel NCO, and Cpl Eillen Jane Q Dela Bajan (Inf) PA, CMO NCO, who joined key provincial officials and council members in discussing matters concerning disaster risk reduction and management in the province.
The meeting was presided over by Hon. Maria Caridad S. Goteesan, Vice Governor and Presiding Officer, together with Engr. Thomas A. Campomanes, PDRRMO, and the full membership of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
The gathering served as an avenue to strengthen inter-agency coordination, enhance disaster preparedness and response capabilities, and reinforce collective efforts toward building safer and more resilient communities across Eastern Samar.

802CDC STRENGTHENS PARTNERSHIP FOR PEACE AND SECURITY
BORONGAN CITY, EASTERN SAMAR | 29 SEPTEMBER 2026 — The 802nd Community Defense Center (802CDC), 8RCDG, RCPA participated in the Joint PPOC, PTF-ELCAC, and PADAC 3rd Quarter Meeting CY 2026, held at the PGO Conference Hall, Brgy. Alang-alang, Borongan City, Eastern Samar.
Representing the 802CDC were MAJ BETHUEL N BARBER (INF) PA, Director, and SSg Jeric M Bentain (Inf) PA, Chief Clerk.
Presided over by Hon. Vice Governor Maria Caridad S. Goteesan, the meeting brought together government agencies and stakeholders to strengthen coordination on peace and order, public safety, countering local communist armed conflict, and anti-drug initiatives in Eastern Samar.

802CDC STRENGTHENS COORDINATION WITH LGU SULAT

SULAT, EASTERN SAMAR | 17 September 2026 — MAJ BETHUEL N. BARBER (INF) PA, Director of the 802nd Community Defense Center (802CDC), 8RCDG, RESCOM, Philippine Army, participated in the 3rd Quarter Joint Council Meeting of the MPOC, MADAC, MTF‑ELCAC, and MDRRMC of the Municipality of Sulat. The meeting was presided over by Hon. Javier E. Zacate, Municipal Mayor, and was attended by Hon. Dionesio L. Evardone, Municipal Vice Mayor; the Commanding Officer of the 63rd Infantry (Innovator) Battalion; representatives from the Office for Training and Education (G8) and the Office of Civil‑Military Operations, 8th Infantry (STORMTROOPERS) Division, Philippine Army; the Philippine Coast Guard; BFP; Sulat Municipal Police Station; and the DILG.

A key highlight of the meeting was the approval of the 802CDC proposal for joint planning toward the Accounting, Registration, and Organization of the Ready and Standby Reserve (RR/SR) within the Municipality of Sulat, Eastern Samar, with an official resolution number to be issued. This approved resolution strengthens coordination between the Philippine Army and the Local Government Unit in organizing and maintaining an updated reserve manpower pool capable of supporting authorized government initiatives — particularly in community preparedness, disaster response, and other related activities.

The 802CDC extends its sincere appreciation to LGU Sulat and all partner agencies for their continued support toward building a capable, organized, responsible, and reliable reserve force across Eastern Samar.

On 12 September 2026, personnel of the 802CDC, reservists of the 802RRIBn, and ROTC Cadet Officers and cadets took part in the Nationwide Simultaneous Accounting of Reservists and ROTC Cadets, held via Video Teleconference (VTC) as the highlight of the 47th National Reservist Week Culmination Ceremony 2026.
The ceremony was graced by HON. GILBERT C. TEODORO JR., Secretary of National Defense, who served as Guest of Honor and Speaker.

Under 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝗡𝗼. 𝟵𝟭𝟲𝟯, tertiary students are required to complete one of the three NSTP components across two semesters: 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗰 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 (𝗖𝗪𝗧𝗦) for community welfare and development, 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 (𝗟𝗧𝗦) for education and literacy, or 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝘀 (𝗥𝗢𝗧𝗖) for military leadership, discipline, and preparedness.
