Migradwar karong Oktubre 8, 2026 ang ikatulong batch sa 70 ka senior citizens nga nahatagan og oportunidad nga makatrabaho pinaagi sa 3rd Batch Special Employment of Senior Citizens sa Davao City.

Sumala kang Lorenzo Borja, head sa Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), ang programa naghatag og kahigayonan sa mga senior citizens nga makatrabaho sulod sa tulo ka bulan, upat ka oras matag adlaw, isip usa ka pamaagi aron padayon silang mahimong produktibo ug aktibong kabahin sa komunidad.

Mitambung usab sila konsehala Pamela Librado, Tek Ocampo, Sweet Advincula, ug ang atong konsehal, Atty. Diosdado Mahipus Jr., nga mao usab ang mirepresenta sa atong Mayor Sebastian Duterte.

Ang 70 ka senior citizens sa ikatulong batch nakatrabaho sa duha ka dagkong food chain sa dakbayan, diin sila nakakuha dili lamang og dugang panginabuhian apan usab og oportunidad nga mapakita nga aduna gihapon silay bililhong kasinatian ug kapasidad sa trabaho.

Mapasalamaton ang mga benepisyaryo sa oportunidad nga gihatag kanila pinaagi sa programa, ilabi na sa kahigayunan nga makabalik sa trabaho bisan anaa na sila sa senior years.

Ang maong inisyatiba gipangunahan sa City Government of Davao pinaagi sa OSCA, inubanan sa Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Dabaw, City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), ug Public Employment Service Office (PESO) subay sa Senior Citizens Work Opportunity Ordinance sa dakbayan.

Pinaagi sa programa, gipasiugda sa dakbayan ang prinsipyo nga ang pag-atiman sa senior citizens dili lamang kutob sa paghatag og benepisyo ug ayuda. Naglakip usab kini sa paghatag kanila og oportunidad nga magpabiling produktibo, independente ug aktibong kabahin sa ekonomiya ug komunidad.

Mahinumduman ng ang Special Employment for Senior Citizens Program usa ka inisyatibo sa atong Mayor Sebastian Duterte ug Konsehal Atty. Diosdado Mahipus Jr. pamaagi sa PESO, OSCA, CSWDO, ug uban pang ahensiya.

Magapadayun kita sa ika upat ug ika lima na batch sa umaabot na mga bulan ug magapahigayon usab sa Sr. Citizen Job Fair. Daghang Salamat.

Great News! Davao City’s Industry Sector Reaches ₱151.6 Billion in 2025, Solidifying Its Position as an Industrial Giant Among Philippine Highly Urbanized Cities 💚🦅

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Provincial Product Accounts (PPA), Davao City recorded ₱151.598 billion in Gross Value Added (GVA) for Industry (at 2018 constant prices).

This figure comprises Mining and Quarrying (₱163.63 million), Manufacturing (₱66.15 billion), Electricity, Steam, Water and Waste Management (₱8.59 billion), and Construction (₱76.70 billion). Altogether, the Industry sector accounts for a major share of Davao City’s ₱601.67 billion total Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2025.

Industry GVA grew by 3.3% from the ₱146.7 billion recorded in 2024.

Ang gitan-aw nga tinuig nga pinansyal nga tabang mokabat sa ₱5,000 hangtod ₱7,000 alang sa matag kwalipikadong BHW ug BNS, dugang sa ilang binulan nga honorarium. Kini magdepende sa anaa nga pondo sa Siyudad, sa mga lagda sa budgeting ug accounting, ug sa katapusang mga probisyon sa ordinansa.

Nagaserbisyo sila sa atong mga pamilya diha mismo sa barangay ug nagatabang sa paghatod sa mga programa sa panglawas ug nutrisyon sa Siyudad diretso ngadto sa atong katawhan. Pinaagi niini nga lakang, atong giila ang ilang serbisyo ug gihatagan og konkretong bili ang ilang kontribusyon.”

Ang pagka-aprobado niini sa Second Reading usa ka dakong lakang sa proseso sa lehislasyon, apan dili pa kini usa ka napasar ug epektibong ordinansa. Kinahanglan pa kini maaprobahan sa Third and Final Reading, maagian ang gikinahanglang aksyon sa City Mayor, ug mahatagan sa katugbang nga appropriation o pondo sa dili pa maimplementar ang pinansyal nga tabang.

DAVAO CITY — A proposed measure granting annual financial assistance in addition to monthly honorarium and formal recognition to Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) of Davao City has moved closer to approval after passing Second Reading before the 21st City Council today, October 6, 2026.

The measure forms part of the legislative initiative earlier raised by Councilor Atty. Diosdado Angelo R. Mahipus Jr. in a privilege speech, where he called attention to the indispensable role played by BHWs and BNSs as frontliners in the delivery of basic health and nutrition services in Davao City’s barangays.

Mahipus stressed that BHWs and BNSs regularly perform community-level functions that directly support the City’s health programs, yet the value of their service is not always matched by adequate financial recognition.

The proposed ordinance seeks to institutionalize that recognition through annual financial assistance for qualified BHWs and BNSs who have contracts with the City Government of Davao.

Following its approval on Second Reading, the proposed ordinance is expected to be taken up for Third and Final Reading during the next regular session of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

If approved on Third Reading, the ordinance will then be transmitted to the City Mayor for final action pursuant to law.

Under the proposal, the Local Finance Committee will determine and propose the appropriate funding allocation, with the contemplated financial assistance ranging from ₱5,000 to ₱7,000 annually for each qualified BHW and BNS, subject to the City’s available resources, applicable budgeting and accounting requirements, and the final provisions of the ordinance in addition to monthly honorarium.

Mahipus emphasized that the measure is intended not merely as financial assistance but as institutional recognition of years of grassroots public service.

“Our Barangay Health Workers and Barangay Nutrition Scholars are among the people closest to our communities. They serve our families at the barangay level and help carry the City’s health and nutrition programs directly to our people. This measure is our way of recognizing that service and giving concrete value to their contribution.”

The passage on Second Reading represents a major legislative step, but the measure is not yet an enacted ordinance. It must still secure approval on Third and Final Reading, undergo the required executive action, and be supported by the corresponding appropriation before the financial assistance can be implemented.
