He shared this today, Feb. 2, during the World Hijab Day celebration at the KCC Mall of Cotabato in this city.

“For Muslim women, the hijab is not a mere garment; it is an act of worship. It is obedience to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. It is a conscious expression of modesty, dignity, and moral strength deeply rooted in Islam,” said Macacua.

The discussion took place during the Parliamentary Monitoring Summit: Bangsamoro and Beyond, spearheaded by the Legal Network for Truthful Elections (LENTE), and convened representatives from the interim government through the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament and the Bangsamoro Information Office (BIO), as well as civil society organizations (CSOs) and the academe.

Lawyer Rona Ann Caritos, LENTE executive director, said the summit opened avenues for dialogue on building a Parliament that reflects a “Bangsamoro Government for the Bangsamoro people.”

She emphasized that effective parliamentary monitoring requires collaboration among stakeholders and the Bangsamoro community.
