Agusan del Norte, Philippines – The Department of Trade and Industry Agusan del Norte Provincial Office, in coordination with the DTI Caraga Regional Office through the Trade Promotion Unit, facilitated the Halal site audit conducted by the Halal International Chamber of Commerce and Industries of the Philippines (HICCIP), Inc. for three Agusan del Norte beneficiary-MSMEs on October 8, 2026. The audit was conducted as part of the requirements for their application for Halal certification under the DTI Halal Certification Program through the Halal Industry Development and Promotion Project (HIDPP).

The three MSMEs covered by the site audit were:
• Bidlisiw Foundation of the Missionary Sisters of Mary, Inc., located in Baan Km. 3, Butuan City, which produces bottled honey and a variety of herbal powders;
• Crops Producers Cooperative, located in Katugasan, Cabadbaran City, which produces squash pancit canton and squash strips; and
• Jade Roel Pure Herbal Coffee Products, located in Gosoon, Carmen, which produces bottled honey and a variety of herbal powders.

The site audit was led by HICCIP Halal Assurance Audit Officers Mr. Nash Ismael, Team Leader; Mr. Anwar Angnie, Sharia Expert; and Mr. Fahad Muti, Halal Assurance Officer.

During the audit, the team inspected and evaluated the MSMEs’ relevant documents, processing areas, production processes, and existing policies and practices in relation to Halal requirements. The activity also provided an opportunity to identify areas that may need improvement as the MSMEs progress with their Halal certification applications.

In preparation for the site audit, the three MSMEs participated in the Halal Basic Principles and Fundamentals Training and Halal Assurance Management System Training conducted on October 5, 2026, at the DTI Caraga Regional Office in Butuan City. The trainings provided the participants with foundational knowledge on Halal principles and the requirements for establishing and implementing a Halal Assurance Management System.

The site audit forms part of DTI’s continuing assistance to MSMEs pursuing Halal certification by providing them with technical guidance and support throughout the certification process. Through the HIDPP, DTI supports MSMEs in strengthening their compliance with Halal requirements and preparing their products for opportunities in the Halal market.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Agusan del Norte proudly congratulates our local food enterprises—Felias Group Inc. (Mixed Thins); Deseo Food Products (Cipriana Chocolate 80%); and Amamio Farm Products (Cacao Powder and Cacao Butter) for successfully securing their FDA Certificates of Product Registration (CPR).

This milestone strengthens consumer confidence, enhances brand credibility, and opens more opportunities for these enterprises to enter wider retail markets, build partnerships, and expand their businesses.

The achievement was made possible through the support of DTI–Agusan del Norte under the RAPID Growth Project, together with partner service providers who assisted in the licensing and registration process.

Congratulations to our local MSMEs as they continue to grow and contribute to the food processing and cacao value chains of Agusan del Norte and beyond.

As part of the summit, DTI Agusan del Norte featured the products of four Halal-certified MSMEs from the province, highlighting the growing participation of local enterprises in the Halal market. These include:
• AmamioFarm – Raw honey, cacao powder, cacao butter, banana chips, calamansi concentrate, tableya, cacao butter moisturizer, honey lemon ginger, honey calamansi, turmeric powder, calamansi powder, liniment oil, moringa powder, honey vinegar, lemon peel, Robusta coffee, corn coffee, and cacao tableya;
• Deseo Food Products – Chocolates, choconibs, Agusan Robusta coffee, and cacao delights;
• Butuan Coconut Products Inc. – Virgin coconut oil, pineapple and mango juice, and buko juice infused with mango and pineapple; and
• Simbalan Farmers Agriculture Cooperative-SIFACO – Robusta roasted ground coffee.

The summit also provided a venue for stakeholders and MSMEs to gain a better understanding of the fundamentals of Halal, Halal certification processes and requirements, and the available government programs and services supporting Halal industry development.

Representatives from DTI, MinDA, the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and Department of Tourism (DOT), among other stakeholders, shared their respective initiatives and interventions aimed at strengthening the Halal ecosystem in the region.

Through its participation in the summit, DTI Agusan del Norte continues to support local MSMEs in exploring opportunities in the Halal market and in meeting the standards and requirements necessary to access wider domestic and international markets.

CABADBARAN CITY | The Department of Trade and Industry – Agusan del Norte, through Negosyo Center – Cabadbaran City, conducted Entrepreneurial Farming 2.0 as a follow-up activity for the Abaca Cluster of the city on October 6, 2026, at the Session Hall, Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs, Poblacion 9, Cabadbaran City.

The activity gathered fifteen (15) abaca-based farmer enterprises to enhance and stimulate financing negotiations, cooperativism, and entrepreneurship through the conduct of Entrepreneurial Farming 2.0. The training was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Local Government Unit of Cabadbaran City, through the City Agriculturist Office, duly represented by Ms. Doreen Paguia and Mr. Cyrel Fudalan, who gave their full support to the implementation of the training. The activity was conducted by a team composed of Mr. Ken Fabian, Negosyo Center – Trade and Industry Development Analyst; Mr. Jeck Rheamar D. Mandas, Senior Business Counselor – Magallanes; and Mr. James V. Ariston, Senior Business Counselor – Santiago.

The training featured two (2) modules. The first module highlighted entrepreneurship in farming, including how to utilize financing and effectively manage farm operations. The second module emphasized the importance of creating connections and networks among farmer-leaders. This created an avenue for farmer enterprises to negotiate their outputs with institutional buyers and gain greater leverage through a larger volume of supply.

Through these discussions, the participants were able to gain insights into the challenges and realities of farming and how they can maximize their resources as a group. The session emphasized that collective strength can be achieved through bulk production rather than operating on a minimum scale.

By equipping our local farmers with practical knowledge and skills, they can improve their processes and decision-making and strengthen their negotiation capabilities with institutional buyers. Through these efforts, we can help build a more prosperous and sustainable organization of farmer enterprises.
