In celebration of the 124th Labor Day, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Nueva Ecija, in partnership with various local government units and stakeholders, is holding a week-long series of activities dedicated to promoting decent work, protecting workersโ€™ rights, and providing employment opportunities for Nueva Ecijano jobseekers.

The highlight of the celebration was the Job Fair successfully held today, May 1, 2026, at SM City Cabanatuan. The event gathered 26 employers offering 2,786 job vacancies. A total of 867 jobseekers registered, composed mainly of regular jobseekers, senior high school graduates, displaced and repatriated OFWs, 4Ps beneficiaries, and persons with disability.

Hired-on-the-Spot (HOTS):
35 jobseekers were immediately hired on the spot. Majority of those hired were regular jobseekers, including 3 senior high school graduates. Another 34 jobseekers were identified as near-hired.
In addition, 385 jobseekers availed of One-Stop-Shop services from various government agencies.

Complementing the main event are the following activities:
โ€ข SPES Orientations conducted for hundreds of student-beneficiaries in LGUs such as Palayan City, Santa Rosa, Bongabon, San Jose City, Llanera, Sto Domingo and Zaragoza, benefiting over 600 students.
โ€ข TUPAD Orientations for 661 beneficiaries in partnership with the Provincial Government of Nueva Ecija and LGU San Isidro.
โ€ข Compliance 101 Seminar for private school administrators and the education sector.
โ€ข DILP Awarding to 83 beneficiaries, including parents of child laborers, marginalized individuals, and workersโ€™ groups.
โ€ข Learning Session for Workers in the Informal Sector attended by 83 beneficiaries.
โ€ข MOA Signing for the reactivation and creation of Job Placement Offices (JPOs) with 5 private schools.
โ€ข MOU Signing between DOLE and the Provincial Government of Nueva Ecija to strengthen agricultural development.
โ€ข SSS Programs and Philheath YAKAP Orientations
โ€ข TESDA Free Services and additional orientations.

Several activities are still ongoing and upcoming in the coming days, including additional SPES Orientations, Labor Compliance seminars, and support services that aim to reach more workers and students across the province.

These initiatives reflect DOLE Nueva Ecijaโ€™s strong commitment to uplifting the lives of workers โ€” from students gaining their first work experience, to informal sector workers, and jobseekers looking for better opportunities.

The Department expresses its sincere appreciation to all partner LGUs, government agencies, educational institutions, employers, and stakeholders who continue to support these meaningful endeavors.

On April 23, 2026, the Association of PESO Managers and Staff of Nueva Ecija, Inc. convened for its Regular Monthly Meeting and Consultation at the Bongabon Municipal Hall.

The gathering served as a vital venue to assess the status of ongoing programs and review accomplishment from both the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) partners.

A significant highlight of the assembly was the Orientation on ILO Convention No. 87: Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organize. Mr. Paulo Franco Magtoto and Ms. Melanie Mendoza of the DOLE Regional Office facilitated the session, providing the local managers and staff with comprehensive insights into these fundamental labor standards.

This initiative reaffirms the collective commitment of the participating agencies to foster a well-informed and rights-conscious workforce across the province of Nueva Ecija.
