Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija — April 9, 2026. The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), through the Reserve Command, Philippine Army, 3rd Regional Community Defense Group (3rd RCDG), and the 301st Community Defense Center (301st CDC), spearheaded the commemoration of the 84th Araw ng Kagitingan. The 301st Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion (301 RRIBN) proudly joined the nation in this historic observance through the symbolic event “Lakad Kalayaan 2026” held at Freedom Park, Calle Burgos, Cabanatuan City.

Honoring Valor and Unity

The march brought together around 200 participants led by the 301 RRIBN, alongside contingents from the 301st CDC, 91st Infantry Battalion (91IB), the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) units in Cabanatuan City. Their collective presence reflected the enduring spirit of solidarity and patriotism that the Day of Valor seeks to honor.

A Walk for Peace

The Lakad Kalayaan 2026, themed “Ang bawat hakbang pasulong ay pagpupugay sa mga hindi kailanman umuurong”, served not only as a tribute to the heroism of Filipino soldiers during World War II but also as a reminder of the continuing responsibility of today’s generation to safeguard peace and freedom. Each step taken symbolized respect for those who never wavered in defense
of the nation.

Leadership and Inspiration

During the program, Lieutenant Colonel Misael J De Vera, GSC PA (Res), Commanding Officer of the 301 RRIBN, delivered an inspiring message. He highlighted the sacrifices of Filipinos during World War II, stressing that their courage and resilience must never be forgotten or put to waste. He emphasized the importance of remembering the past while committing to uphold the values of bravery, unity, and service in the present. His words resonated with the participants, reinforcing the AFP’s role as a pillar of community and national defense.

Significance of the Event

The commemoration underscored the relevance of the Araw ng Kagitingan in today’s context — reminding Filipinos that valor is not only found in the battlefield but also in everyday acts of service, resilience, and dedication to peace. By joining hands with other institutions, the AFP, Reserve Command, and its reserve units demonstrated that the legacy of heroism continues to inspire collective action for a stronger and more peaceful nation.
