🌿🕊️ 𝗔 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

As part of the 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘋𝘢𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦 and the 𝘚𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, the Xavier University community gathered for an 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 on 30 September 2026, led by the Campus Ministries Office and inspired by the themes “Invest in Peace – For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day” and “Living Water.”

In her message, Dr. Judy P. Sendaydiego, Director of the XU Center for Lifelong Learning and a member of the Laudato Si’ University Committee, reflected on water as a cradle of life and the urgent need to care for our waters, which face pollution, overuse, and the impacts of a changing climate.

As we bring the Season of Creation to a close, may we carry forward its call to ecological conversion, caring for our common home, and becoming instruments of peace for all creation. Inspired by this year’s theme, “Immersion in Living Water,” let us gather in prayer and thanksgiving, renewing our commitment to nurture life and help creation flourish. 🌿

This 𝙎𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, faith leaders invite us to reflect on water as a sign of blessing, renewal, and God’s healing grace—a grace that flows into our lives, our communities, and all creation.

💧🌿 In a world that thirsts not only for water, but also for peace, understanding, and reconciliation, may this season move us 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣, 𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩, 𝙥𝙧𝙖𝙮, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙙. As one human family, may we work together to care for our common home and help create conditions where life can flourish once more.

This 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, we are invited to pause, reflect, and respond—to the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor. As a community, let us continue our journey of ecological conversion and transformation, choosing to care for our common home through our everyday actions. 🌏

This year, we enter into the Season of Creation with the theme “𝙄𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙇𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧,” inspired by Ezekiel 47. 💧

We are invited to immerse ourselves in the flow of God’s living water—a source of life, abundance, and healing for all creation—while recognizing the realities faced by communities on the frontlines of the ecological crisis. May this season move us to listen, reflect, pray, and respond, and to become part of the healing and renewal of our common home. 🌿

As Xavier University begins its celebration of the𝙎𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, we reflect on the words of Fr. Ruben Orbeta Jr, SJ, Chaplain of the XU Immaculate Conception Church, during the 𝙊𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙇𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙜𝙮 last September 7:

From 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭 𝘁𝗼 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟰, we join communities around the world in prayer and action for our common home. The global celebration of the 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 this year is centered on the theme “𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿.” Inspired by Ezekiel 47:1–12, the theme reminds us of God’s life-giving presence and calls us to participate in the renewal of creation.

As we journey as a Laudato Si’ University, we continue to nurture a community that prays, learns, reflects, and acts for our common home.

Throughout the season, Xavier Ateneo brings together a series of activities that invite the University community to deepen our ecological commitment and allow the spirit of care for creation to flow into concrete action.
