โTrue service begins with love, grows through compassion, and is strengthened by faith.โ
FBRC 2026-147 of NFTI Region 5 Satellite Campus took part in religious activity, led by FSSUPT CHRISTINE DOCTOR-CULA, MPSA, NFTI Director, and under the supervision of FSINSP EUNIEL ALDEN S RIZON, Chief, Tactics/ Chief, OSA.
As Roman Catholic trainees attended the church, the ๐บ๐๐๐ ๐โ๐๐โ๐๐๐ ๐ท๐๐ฆ at the Divine Mercy Shrine and the Monastery of the Carmelite Nuns of the Holy Trinity, they took time to reflect on the homily of the Mass presider Rev. Fr. Noman Anwar Nasser. In his homily, he spoke of public service as a duty to oneโs country, its people and to God -- solemnly stating that sacrifices are necessary to step up as public servants.
Learning to discern Godโs voice enables them to make wise decisions, particularly in challenging and high-pressure situations. This experience strengthened their unity and encouraged self-reflection, reminding them that their responsibilities involve not only physical and technical preparedness but also moral integrity and compassion. Their involvement demonstrates that faith serves as an important source of strength, courage, and purpose in their commitment to serving the community.
For other trainees, Born-Again Christians, they embraced the verse Hebrews 2:17 โFor this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God.โ This verse guides the trainees to learn that Jesus understands human weakness and suffering. Because He lived among us and experienced our struggles, He deals with us with compassion and mercy. He is not indifferent to our pain.
Beyond any single faith tradition, this emphasizes the universal value of spiritual reflection in the personal and professional development of all trainees, regardless of their religious beliefs or affiliations. It reinforces shared values such as discipline, integrity, respect, compassion, and serviceโprinciples that are fundamental to the fire service. By fostering openness, respect for diverse beliefs, and mutual understanding, the experience strengthens unity, teamwork, and camaraderie among trainees. Ultimately, it reminds them that despite their differences in faith and background, they are united by a common mission; to serve and protect the community with courage, compassion, integrity, and professionalism.
