José Yulo Sr. (September 24, 1894 – October 27, 1976) served across all branches of the Philippine government. He was Chief Justice of the Supreme Court from May 7, 1942, to July 9, 1945, during the Japanese Occupation, and Speaker of the National Assembly from 1939 until the start of World War II in 1941. His extensive career included roles as House Speaker, congressman, senator, Secretary of Justice, and Chief Justice. In 1948, he and his family acquired the Canlubang Sugar Estate. Calamba City takes pride in his legacy and honors him as a cherished Calambeño.
