Protecting Public School Lands: DepEd Oriental Mindoro Division Pushes for New Deeds of Donation for 13 Schools of the Municipality of Baco๐ซ๐
With the guidance and support of Dr. Maria Luisa D. Servando, CESO VI, Schools Division Superintendent of the Schools Division Office of Oriental Mindoro, the Legal Unit headed by Atty. Cristalyn Atienza, Legal Officer, conducted a discussion with Hon. Clarissa A. Cepillo, REB, Chairperson of the Committee on Land Use of the Sangguniang Bayan of Baco today.
The meeting centered on the request for new Deeds of Donation and a Sangguniang Bayan Resolution covering 13 public school sites previously donated to the Division of Oriental Mindoro. This initiative aligns with the School Sites Titling Program of the Department of Education Central Office, which aims to ensure proper documentation and secure ownership of public school properties.
The Schools Division Office expresses its sincere appreciation to the Sangguniang Bayan of Baco for its continued support to the education sector and looks forward to further collaboration for the timely completion of these requirements.

CENRO - Socorro Presents Validated 1st District Public School Sites to DepEd Oriental Mindoro
Today, the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) โ Socorro successfully presented the validated and investigated school sites by Dr. Maria Alva Renelyn A. Culla-Umali, Land Management Officer III, to the DepEd โ Schools Division Office of Oriental Mindoro through the Legal Unit, led by Atty. Cristalyn M. Atienza.
This presentation reinforces their shared commitment to ensuring safe and suitable learning environments for students.
Results show that 46 school sites are titled, 11 require further research, while the remaining sites fall under other land classifications such as forestland/timberland, easements, NIPAS/NLNP areas, presidential proclamations, CADC/CADT, and areas with existing conflicts.
This initiative helps DepEd Oriental Mindoro address land-related issues and properly document school sites for future planning and development, as aligned with the DENRโDepEd Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) 4 which focuses on DENRโDepEd collaboration to verify land status, document school sites, and take necessary steps to secure land for public schools.

โ๏ธ Historic Memorandum of Agreement Signing between the Department of Education Oriental Mindoro & National Commission on Indigenous Peoples for the Approval of Usufruct Agreement for 43 Public Elementary & Secondary Schools
Last February 19, the Department of Education (DepEd) Oriental Mindoro, headed by Dr. Maria Luisa D. Servando, CESO VI, in partnership with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), led by Regional Director Mr. Joemer M. Samong, successfully signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the approval of Usufruct Agreements for 43 public schools located within ancestral lands. ๐ซ๐
This landmark event formalized the collaboration between DepEd Oriental Mindoro and NCIP MiMaRoPa, ensuring that public schools operating within ancestral lands can continue providing quality education while fully respecting the rights, customs, and traditions of Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs). The initiative is aligned with the Indigenous Peoplesโ Rights Act (IPRA) of 1997, reinforcing the protection of ancestral lands while supporting educational development. ๐ฑ
The signing of the MOA for the approval of 43 Usufruct Agreements is a significant milestone that strengthens inter-agency cooperation, promotes inclusive and culturally responsive education, and guarantees that Indigenous learners have safe, sustainable, and respectful spaces for learning.

Today, the Department of Education โ Schools Division of Oriental Mindoro successfully conducted Ceremonial Signing in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Bulalacao, signifying another milestone in strengthening collaboration for the advancement of quality education.๐

The Legal Unit successfully conducted its FY 2025 Year-End Performance Review and FY 2026 Strategic Planning and Target-Setting Activity on the School Sites Titling Process for selected Unit Heads, Legal Staff, and Technical Assistants this month.
Anchored on the shared goal of strengthening support to DepEd Oriental Mindoro,the activity aligns with the initiative of Schools Division Superintendent ๐๐ซ. ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ข๐ฌ๐ ๐. ๐๐๐ซ๐ฏ๐๐ง๐๐จ, ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐, towards the successful securing of ownership of school sites across the Division.
