CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro - To strengthen frontline public service, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) MIMAROPA upskilled its entire workforce on General Labor Standards (GLS), Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH), and Labor Relations on May 19, 2026.
The one-day training brought together seven plantilla employees, one contractual appointee, and five Government Internship Program (GIP) interns in a unified effort to enhance institutional competence.
While the Boardโs core mandate focuses on wage determination and productivity promotion, its personnel regularly address a wide range of labor-related inquiries during public hearings, consultations, and through digital platforms. As an attached agency of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Board recognized the need to equip its frontline staff with the knowledge and confidence to provide accurate and responsive guidance on broader labor concerns thereby minimizing unnecessary referrals and improving client experience.
โWe hope that the knowledge gained from this training will be truly applied in our day-to-day work and in our service to the public,โ said Board Secretary IV Philip D. Ruga, highlighting the practical value of the initiative.
Conducted in coordination with DOLE MIMAROPA, the session was facilitated by Chief Labor and Employment Officer and TSSD Chief Ms. Loreta D. Catapang. The interactive discussions and open forums anchored heavily on real-world workplace scenarios effectively bridging legal concepts with actual field application.
Beyond enhancing frontline service delivery, the training fulfills the mandated minimum of eight training hours per employee under NWPC Office Order No. 11, Series of 2019. It also directly addresses competency gaps identified through the Individual Competency Assessment Survey Forms (ICASFs).
By investing in its people, RTWPB MIMAROPA reinforces its commitment to delivering responsive, accurate, and people-centered public service ensuring that every stakeholder engagement is informed not only by its mandate, but by a broader understanding of labor laws and practices.
