ON THE IMPORTATION OF GALUNGGONG
The importation of galunggong will not bring about food security for Filipinos. For one, it showcases the government's neglect for farmers and local producers which, in turn, causes dependence on and preference for import goods.
Sa mahabang panahon, kinaligtaan ang ating mga magsasaka at mangingisda. We are considered an agricultural country but agriculture only accounts to around 10 percent of the country's GDP. The government prides itself for achieving so-called "food security" and yet farmers themselves do not have anything to eat.
What we need is a genuine, comprehensive and progressive agrarian reform program that will address the needs of our farmers and pave the way towards achieving food security. But now, we need to help our farmers and fisherfolk. Grabe ang tama sa kanila ng pandemya at apektado talaga ang kanilang kabuhayan. Dapat silang bigyan agad ng karampatang ayuda at suporta.

Anakpawis appeals CHR to probe surge of human rights abuses against peasant communities
Manila, Philippines - As various peasant groups from across the country reported mounting cases of human rights abuses against peasant, indigenous peoples and fisherfolk communities from December to January, the Anakpawis Party-list urged the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) to intensify their investigative efforts to thwart another wave of human rights crisis, as generated by the very fascist Duterte regime. Based on the initial data gathered by Tanggol Magsasaka and Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas, it involved 5 victims of extra-judicial killings, 14 victims of wounding by gunshot, 3 incidents of indiscriminate firing, 3 incident of bombings of peasant communities, and 4 incidents of forced entry of houses, harassment and intimidation.
"The Duterte regime is true to its declaration that it is opposed to protection and promotion of human rights in the country, vis-a-vis its indictment for crimes against humanity in the International Criminal Court. There is overwhelming manifestation that this regime is violative of the constitution's Bill of Rights, thus, the human rights crisis, and the present surge of abuses against peasant communities across the country," Rafael "Ka Paeng" Mariano, Anakpawis Party-list First Nominee and National Chairperson said in a press statement.

17. January 25, 2022, Brgy. San Roque, San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan - demolition of houses of 7 peasant families by Araneta family's goons.
Finally, he urged the presidential aspirants to seriously craft their human rights agenda and protection of people's basic rights, especially the poor and marginalized sectors. He pressed for the repeal of the Executive Order 70 or the abolition of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, the writing off of its funding from the 2022 national budget, the revocation of the Memorandum Circular 32 or order against activists in Negros, Samar and Bicol; the cancellation of procurement of weapons of mass destruction being used against the Filipino people and pull-out of military forces from peasant communities.
"It has been traditional that military operations are synonymous to human rights abuses in the countryside. This is mainly that elements of the military are embracing the fascist ideology, instead of sincerely upholding the Philippine constitution, with democracy, civil liberties and human rights as pillars. Militarization in the country has never been in history, favorable to the Filipino people, but rather a scourge, akin to the fascist rule of Marcos martial law or dictatorship," Mariano ended. # # #
