After nearly two decades of service in a private company, โMarraโ (not her real name), a former employee, sought assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment - National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR), through its CAMANAVA Field Office (CFO), after experiencing delays in the release of her final pay due to contested deductions.
Despite communicating with her former employer regarding the matter, the issue remained unresolved for several months, prompting her to seek legal advice. She was later advised to file a Request for Assistance (RFA) through the Single Entry Approach (SEnA) to explore possible settlement before pursuing a formal labor case.
Marra filed her RFA online on March 10 and immediately received confirmation from DOLE-NCR CFO. Within days, a conciliation-mediation conference was scheduled. Through this, DOLE facilitated discussions between the parties, allowing both sides to openly discuss their concerns and work toward a mutually acceptable resolution.
Eventually, the parties reached an amicable settlement through the SEnA process, resulting in the release of Marraโs final pay amounting to more than P4 million without the need for formal litigation. Marra expressed gratitude to DOLE and the SEnA program for helping resolve the matter through dialogue and mediation.
โVery thankful ako kasi ini-expect ko na matutulungan ako ni DOLE ma-resolve [itong] nangyari, at nagawa naman,โ she shared. โNatuwa ako na mayroon palang ganitong process na hindi agad [kailangan ng] lawyer, and if kaya pang pag-usapan, pag-usapan muna para ma-prevent din na masayang oras ng bawat parties.โ
She also encouraged workers experiencing similar situations to seek assistance from DOLE, emphasizing the importance of remaining objective and open to dialogue during the conciliation process.
The DOLE Single Entry Approach (SEnA) is a 30-day mandatory conciliation-mediation that provides an accessible, impartial, and inexpensive settlement procedure for labor and employment issues. Workers with labor-related concerns may file their Request for Assistance online through the DOLE Assistance for Request Management System (ARMS) at https://arms.dole.gov.ph or visit the nearest DOLE Field Office for assistance.
