Earlier today, Sangguniang Bayan officials, led by Vice Mayor Edgy Z. Javellana, had the privilege of visiting the Malacañang Museum, an experience that deepened their appreciation and understanding of the country’s rich history.

In anticipation of the Senate Plenary Session, the delegation gathered for a fellowship lunch at the Senate Lounge, where they had the distinct honor of interacting with several Senators.

Later that afternoon, the officials were formally recognized on the floor by Majority Floor Leader Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri, Senate President Sherwin "Win" Gatchalian during the Senate Session.

They were able to observe the legislative proceedings firsthand, paying particular attention to several key discussions. These included the Committee Report sponsored by Senator Chiz Escudero on the proposed bill postponing the November 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections; the proposed bill institutionalizing the State Scholarship Program presented by Senator Joel Villanueva; and Senator Erwin Tulfo’s manifestation regarding the recent tragic incident at the Ateneo de Zamboanga University.

A truly momentous day for our local leaders as they bridge local governance with national legislation! ✨

As part of their legislative benchmarking activities, the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Officials of Candoni visited the House of Representatives and had the privilege of observing the Plenary Session, presided over by Deputy Speaker, Atty. Mercedes "Cheding" K. Alvarez of the CHICKS District.

The municipal officials also took the opportunity to present a Plaque of Congratulations to Atty. Alvarez in recognition of her recent election as Deputy Speaker of the House.

📍 Delivering Care: Candoni Sangguniang Bayan's Medical & Dental Mission a Huge Success‼️

The Office of the Sangguniang Bayan announces the successful conclusion of its Medical and Dental Mission held yesterday, August 11, 2026, at the CPSU-Candoni Campus (Ground Floor-Main Building).

During the event, the medical team successfully catered to 50 patients for tooth extractions and provided 50 general health check-ups, complete with medicine prescriptions and distribution. This ensured that Candonians received the comprehensive care they needed.

This initiative was made possible through the invaluable partnership of the Provincial Health Office of Negros Occidental and the Candoni Rural Health Unit.

The Sangguniang Bayan thru the Honorable Vice Mayor Edgy Z. Javellana is indeed grateful for the support of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental under the leadership of Gov. Eugenio Jose V. Lacson. Sincere appreciation is also extended to the Municipal Nurses and Midwives under the supervision of Dr. Anabelle N. Guardiario, and to the CPSU-Candoni Campus for the use of its facility and the assistance of its personnel.

The Sangguniang Bayan of Candoni successfully concluded the 1st Candoni Legislative Summit on August 11, 2026, at the Candoni Legislative Building. Anchored on the theme, "Candoni @ 65: One Voice, One Vision, One Legislative Direction," this pre-charter event gathered local legislators, barangay officials, civil society organizations (CSOs), and sector representatives to promote participatory governance.

The event was filled with meaningful words and collaboration from

• 𝙃𝙤𝙣. 𝙀𝙙𝙜𝙮 𝙕. 𝙅𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙖 (Municipal Vice Mayor), who officially opened the program with his Welcome Address.

• 𝙃𝙤𝙣. 𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙝 𝙄𝙖𝙣 𝙀. 𝙎𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙤(Chairperson, Committee on Good Government), who set the collaborative tone through his Opening Remarks.

• 𝙀𝙣𝙜’𝙧 𝙍𝙖𝙮 𝙍. 𝙍𝙪𝙞𝙯 (Municipal Mayor), who solidified the executive-legislative partnership with a Message of Support, thanking the strong support of the officials from the 9 barangays, national-partner agencies, CSOs and representatives from key municipal offices.

• 𝘿𝙞𝙧. 𝙇𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙮𝙣 𝘼. 𝙊𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙯𝙖, 𝘾𝙀𝙎𝙊 𝙄𝙑 (Regional Director, DILG Negros Island Region), who graced the summit as the Guest of Honor and delivered a powerful Keynote Speech. Director Ortiz emphasized that the summit was a commendable initiative that other Local Government Units (LGUs) could emulate. She further noted that the event served as an excellent reminder of older ordinances that may have only been presented during past public hearings only. Additionally, she congratulated the municipality for being a past SGLG awardee and a five-year consecutive passer of the Good Financial Housekeeping seal.

The first-ever summit was indeed a success with the cooperation of the all the Punong Barangays, Barangay Kagawads, SK Chairpersons, Barangay Secretaries and Treasurers, the PNP, and Presidents of recognized CSOs. Their presence and insights remained vital to achieving a unified and forward-looking legislative direction for the municipality's development and security.
