OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON THE FIRE INCIDENT INVOLVING THE CANLAON CITY BOOTH IN BUGLASAN FESTIVAL
The Local Government Unit of Canlaon City expresses its deep concern over the fire incident that damaged the Canlaon City Booth during the Buglasan Festival.
Based on the initial report of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire was electrical in nature and accidental. The BFP received the emergency call at 9:04 PM, dispatched responding units at 9:05 PM, and arrived at the scene at 9:07 PM. The fire was brought under control at 9:09 PM and was declared completely extinguished at 9:15 PM.
The incident resulted in nine (9) individuals sustaining abrasions and minor burns. Emergency response teams from the Provincial Health Office, Philippine Red Cross, Negros Oriental LDRRMO, and One Rescue immediately provided medical assistance and facilitated their transport to Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital and Silliman University Medical Center. All nine individuals are reported to be in stable condition.
Although the damage to our booth is significant, we are grateful that no lives were lost. The safety and well-being of every individual remain our foremost priority. We extend our concern to all those injured and affected by this incident and wish them a swift recovery.
The Local Government Unit of Canlaon City is committed to extending the necessary assistance to the affected individuals. We are currently coordinating with the concerned agencies and authorities to reach the victims, assess their immediate needs, and facilitate appropriate support.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the police officers who first responded and assisted the victims, as well as the BFP, PHO, Philippine Red Cross, Negros Oriental LDRRMO, One Rescue, and all emergency responders for their prompt action. We also thank the local government units (LGUs) that continue to stand with Canlaon City and express their support and solidarity as we face this challenge together.
The Canlaon City Booth was more than a structure; it represented our culture, identity, creativity, and pride. Even with its colors gone and exterior damaged, what remains allows us to envision its former beauty and remember the collective effort and dedication that brought it to life.
The fire may have damaged our booth, but it cannot extinguish the spirit of Canlaon City. Like the structure that continues to stand, our people remain resilient, united, and steadfast amid every challenge.
Canlaon City stands tall—not because it is untouched by challenges, but because it continues to rise despite them.
