“Threads of Heritage: The Living Identity of Carcar City”

This artwork reflects the vibrant and enduring identity of Carcar City, Cebu, honored as the Heritage City of the South. At the center is a hand holding a mobile phone, symbolizing how the past and present are interconnected, shared, and remembered in today’s digital age. Within and around it are the city’s defining elements: the Carcar Rotunda, the statue of Leon Kilat, the historic Santa Catalina Church, and the Carcar Museum, all representing deep historical roots.

The inclusion of Martino Abellana and Romulo Galicano honors Carcar’s contribution to Philippine art, while the presence of lechon, ampao, bocarillo, and chicharon highlights its rich culinary heritage. Festivals and cultural dances, inspired by Carcar’s achievements in Pasigarbo sa Sugbo and Sinulog, express the city’s pride, rhythm, and unity.

The New Carcar City Hall stands as a symbol of progress, showing that the city continues to grow while preserving its identity. Altogether, the composition tells a story: that Carcar’s present success is a fruit of its past, shaped by generations who nurtured its culture, traditions, and artistry. This painting is a reflection of a city that remembers, celebrates, and continues to thrive.
