The celebration of the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary provided an opportunity not only to recognize the dedication and service of government employees, but also to acknowledge the people behind the workโthe individuals who continuously give their time, energy, skills, and commitment in fulfilling the mandate of public service.
As part of the anniversary celebration, the Human Resource Management Office initiated an Employees' Wellness Day, designed to give employees a simple yet meaningful opportunity to pause from their usual routines, relax, and experience a moment of personal care.
The haircut session provided employees with a practical form of self-care that was both refreshing and accessible. More than simply receiving a haircut, employees were given the opportunity to step away from their workstations, engage in light conversations, and enjoy a brief change of pace within the workday.
The massage therapy sessions, meanwhile, offered employees a much-needed opportunity to relax and release some of the physical tension brought about by long hours of work and daily responsibilities. For many, the session became a welcome pauseโa few quiet moments to simply sit back, breathe, and allow themselves to be cared for.
The free haircut sessions and massage therapy offered employees something practical and enjoyable, but more importantly, they communicated a message of appreciation and care. In a profession where employees are expected to continually give their best in service of others, the activity provided a small but important reminder that those who serve also deserve to be cared for.
