Our very own City Mayor Dexter Uy visited our Catbalogan Booth as well as other booths at Samar State University Gymnasium together with Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary, Renato Solidum, Jr. as the Guest of Honor.

There are four (4) participating local governments in the Smart Solutions Gallery showcasing their digital transformation and innovation, which is part of the activities under rSCENE 2026 or Regional Smart Communities Exposition and Networking Engagement (rSCENE) organized by the city government and supported by DOST and other national agencies.

Showcasing our rich cultural heritage, our booth at Samar State University Gymnasium as part of the 2026 Regional Smart Communities Exposition and Networking Engagement (rSCENE) truly highlights that!

From the colorful mural paintings from members of Hulagway Artist Club and several sets from local artist, Kristina Aguirre; to a collection of trophies from various competitions through the years as made by local sculptor, Joel Pragas; to creative costumes used during the 2025 Tandaya Festival, which won the Grand Championship title as designed by local designer, Jayne Plasabas; and other elements featuring the 'Manaragat' identity of Catbalogan as 'people of the sea' -- the booth definitely captures the captivating spirit of Catbalogan and its people!

This October 1–31, 2026, the City Government of Catbalogan joins the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the entire nation in celebrating the 𝟯𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵! Declared under Presidential Proclamation No. 63, s. 1992, October is observed as Local Government Month, with the second week designated as Local Government Week and October 10 celebrated as Local Government Day.

This observance commemorates the enactment of the Local Government Code of 1991, honoring the pivotal role of local government units (LGUs) in driving community development and nation-building. Through this year’s theme, the City Government reaffirms its commitment to transparency and accountability, participatory governance, and institutional resilience and unity.
