On this International AIDS Candlelight Memorial, the Commission on Human Rights Region VII joins communities around the world in remembering the lives lost to AIDS and standing in solidarity with all individuals and families affected by HIV and AIDS.

This memorial is not only a time to honor memories, but also a call to strengthen compassion, understanding, and respect for human dignity.

CHR VII remains one with advocates, healthcare workers, communities, and persons living with HIV in promoting awareness, inclusivity, and access to humane and rights-based healthcare and services.

Together, let us continue to light the path toward a more compassionate society where no one is left behind.

Karong Mayo 01, 2026, atong ginapasidunggan ang matag Pilipinong trabahante nga mao ang kusog sa atong ekonomiya. Gikan sa pabrika hangtod sa opisina, gikan sa uma ug kadagatan hangtod sa kalsada, padayon nilang gipalihok ang atong katilingban bisan pa sa nagkagrabeng mga hagit sa panginabuhi.

Sa taliwala sa pagsaka sa presyo sa krudo, gasolina, ug sa mga palaliton, mas nagkabug-at ang pas-anon sa mga trabahante, labi na kadtong minimum ang sweldo, adlaw-adlaw ang kita, ug anaa sa impormal nga sektor. Ang kasamtangang krisis adunay direktang epekto sa ilang abilidad sa pagtagbo sa ilang panginahanglan ug sa pagpuyo nga adunay dignidad.

Padayon ang panawagan sa Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines alang sa makatarunganon, luwas, ug tawhanong kondisyon sa pagpanarbaho.

Magkahiusa kita sa pagbarog alang sa katungod sa matag trabahante ug siguruhon nga walay mabiyaan taliwala sa nagkagrabeng mga hagit sa ekonomiya.

The Commission on Human Rights VII, together with partner organizations, successfully held a community-based dialogue titled “Strengthening Voices: A Regional Consultation with Civil Society Organizations on Human Rights Issues and Concerns in Central Visayas” at Alicia Apartelle, Cebu City on April 21, 2026.

The activity gathered several Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) across Cebu, providing a meaningful space to discuss their ongoing struggles and lived realities—from civil and political rights to economic, social, and cultural concerns. Key sectors, including women, children, LGBTQIA+, PWDs, and the elderly, were also highlighted, alongside pressing cross-cutting issues such as environment, housing, and other emerging challenges.

Through open dialogue and collaboration, the participants were able to raise critical concerns, share insights, and strengthen collective efforts toward promoting and protecting human rights in the region.

The Commission on Human Rights Region VII conducted monitoring activities in the Municipality of Asturias, Cebu, reaffirming its commitment to uphold the right to health, especially for communities in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA).

This initiative focused on assessing access to primary health services under the Universal Health Care (UHC) Act, with the aim of ensuring that no one is left behind in the delivery of essential and life-saving services.

Furthermore, we extend our sincere gratitude to the Local Government Unit for their warm support and cooperation, especially to Hon. Dana Andrew M. Dumdum, Municipal Mayor, and Hon. Reine Yaras, Vice Mayor, along with the dedicated PWD staff, for their commitment to advancing inclusive, accessible, and rights-based public service.

May we continue to extend compassion, uphold dignity, and work hand in hand in ensuring that every community, no matter how remote, enjoys equitable access to health and the full realization of their human rights.

The Commission on Human Rights – Central Visayas proudly joins the celebration of Women’s Month through the 3rd Annual Human Rights and Women’s Month Celebration, themed “𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧: 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞.” This meaningful gathering highlights the vital role of women in advancing gender justice and building fairer systems for all.

Held at the UP Cebu Performing Arts Hall, the event features inspiring voices in public service, including 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐁. 𝐋𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐚-𝐘𝐚𝐩, Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals–Visayas, as plenary speaker. She is joined by esteemed panelists Hon. 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐀𝐦𝐢𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐒. 𝐅𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫-𝐑𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐬, Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights, and 𝐃𝐢𝐫. 𝐉𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐚 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚ñ𝐚, 𝐄𝐍𝐏, Regional Director of the Department of Economy, Planning and Development.
