Lapu-Lapu City Clean and Green

LOOK | The Lapu-Lapu City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Cindi King-Chan, through the Clean and Green Office, continues its commitment to environmental beautification and urban greening through the regular maintenance of ornamental plants in various areas of the city today, March 5, 2026.

The Clean and Green team conducted maintenance activities at the plant boxes in Barangay Mactan, where the ornamental plants are now blooming and well maintained.

Similar maintenance efforts were carried out in Barangay Ibo, where ornamental plants in designated plant boxes are regularly monitored, cleaned, and nurtured to ensure healthy growth.

These initiatives reflect the city government’s ongoing dedication to maintaining clean, green, and attractive public spaces for the community.

DECLARATION OF STATE OF PREPAREDNESS IN THE CITY OF LAPU-LAPU IN RESPONSE TO THE MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT

To our beloved Oponganons—

In light of the ongoing unrest in the Middle East, and the anticipated sharp rise in fuel prices, the City Government of Lapu-Lapu hereby declares a State of Preparedness. We call on our residents to take simple yet impactful steps in their daily lives as we face global economic repercussions, particularly in the rising costs of fuel, commodities, transportation and essential goods. Together, these actions will help ease the burden and strengthen our community:

1. Plan trips wisely. Limit unnecessary travel, share rides, and consider walking or biking—choices that save fuel and improve health.

2. Conserve energy. Use air conditioning only when needed and switch off lights and appliances when not in use.

3. Be mindful of water use. Install or utilize rain catchment systems to prepare for possible shortages.

4. Consume responsibly. Buy only what is necessary, reduce food waste, and support local produce and small vendors. Avoid panic buying and resist unfair price increases.

5. Practice solid waste management. Segregate, recycle, and dispose of waste properly to protect our environment and community health.

This is a time for responsibility and solidarity. We must act with discipline, foresight, and unity to protect our community from undue hardship. Despite the uncertainty, our strength lies in our resilience and cooperation.

Let us continue to protect ourselves and our families. Let us support one another and pray for peace and safety for our brothers and sisters in the Middle East.

The City Government of Lapu-Lapu turned over six brand new L300 vehicles, two drones, and 23 police outposts during a ceremony held today at the City Hall grounds on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

Mayor Cindi King-Chan led the distribution of the vehicles to the Barangay Mayor's Office, Clean and Green Office, City Mayor's Office, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Lapu-Lapu City Hospital, and Barangay Basak.

Mayor Cindi said the 23 additional police outposts will be strategically deployed in Olango Island and mainland barangays to strengthen police visibility, maintain peace and order, and enable a more effective response to the public's immediate needs. These were officially turned over to the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

She said several city service vehicles are already old and due for replacement. Upon PDEA's request and once funds became available, the city allocated a budget for new units. Old but serviceable vehicles will be reassigned to other offices.

Two DJI drones, sponsored by the Local Peace Advisory Boards upon the request of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, were also turned over to strengthen monitoring and support operations.

Mayor Cindi said the initiative aims to improve mobility, strengthen public safety, and ensure faster service delivery to Oponganons.
