Dahil dito, ang Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections sa November 2, 2026 ay hindi na itutuloy. Kinakansela na rin ng COMELEC ang Calendar of Activities, kasama na ang Filing of Certificates of Candidacy mula September 28 hanggang October 5, 2026, pati na rin ang mga kaugnay na Prohibitions on Disbursement of Public Funds, Transfer, Appointment, Promotions, Suspensions, atbp, at ang nakatakdang Election Period simula October 3, 2026.

Here is the list of cities and municipalities in Cebu that have announced the suspension of classes tomorrow, September 21, due to deteriorating air quality in Metro Cebu.

•Minglanilla - All levels, public and private schools

•Talisay City - All public schools; private schools and Talisay City College at the discretion of their respective school administrators

• Cebu City - All levels, public and private schools

• Carcar City - All levels, public and private schools

• Mandaue City - All levels, public and private schools

• Naga City - All public schools; private schools and colleges at the discretion of their respective school administrators

• Lapu-Lapu City - All public and private schools; colleges at the discretion of their respective school administrators

• San Fernando - All public schools; private schools and colleges at the discretion of their respective school administrators

• Cordova - Public schools (all levels); private schools at the discretion of their respective school administrators

The Cebu City Government is closely monitoring the effects of the recent eruption of Kanlaon Volcano as reported by PHIVOLCS.

In view of the reported volcanic ashfall affecting Cebu City, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO) is closely coordinating with PHIVOLCS, PAGASA, and other concerned agencies to continuously monitor the situation and issue appropriate advisories.

The public is advised to:
• Remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information.
• Monitor only official advisories from PHIVOLCS, PAGASA, and the Cebu City Government.
• Wear face masks when outdoors, especially children, senior citizens, pregnant women, and individuals with respiratory conditions.
• Stay indoors as much as possible if ashfall becomes heavier and report any emergency concerns to your Barangay officials or the CCDRRMO.

Face-to-Face Classes Suspended in Cebu City February 10, 2026

The Cebu City Government has announced the suspension of face-to-face classes at all levels across the city effective immediately today, February 10, 2026.

The decision was made following the recommendation of the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council to ensure the safety of learners, teachers, and school personnel amid prevailing conditions.

All public and private schools are directed to shift to modular or other alternative learning modes while the suspension is in effect.

The City Government urges residents to remain vigilant and to monitor official channels for further advisories and updates.
