🔥 𝗖𝗘𝗕𝗨 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗠 𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗦: 𝟭.𝟬𝟴 𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝟴 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗛𝗦!

Cebu continues to shine as one of the Philippines’ leading tourism destinations, recording an impressive 1,080,809 tourist arrivals from January to August 2026, according to the Cebu Provincial Tourism Office. The figure represents a 12.78% increase compared with the same period in 2025, when Cebu recorded 958,317 tourist arrivals.
Domestic travelers continued to make up the majority, with 838,575 arrivals, representing a 9.19% increase year-on-year.

But international tourism showed an even stronger performance. Foreign tourist arrivals reached 242,108, posting a remarkable 27.28% increase compared with the previous year.

🇰🇷 South Korea remained Cebu’s largest foreign source market with 60,518 arrivals, followed by the United States with 22,866 and Japan with 22,223.

The tourism office also recorded positive growth from 53 foreign markets, with South Korea registering the largest increase in visitor numbers, followed by China and the United Kingdom.
Among Cebu’s destinations, Cordova recorded the highest number of tourist arrivals at 171,552, followed by Santa Fe with 120,197 and Daanbantayan with 59,435. The strong tourism numbers come as the Cebu Provincial Government continues to promote the province locally and internationally while pushing for stronger direct international air connectivity.

Cebu has also seen improved air travel activity. From January to July 2026, Mactan-Cebu International Airport handled more than 7.35 million passengers, including nearly 1.93 million international passengers. With its beaches, diving destinations, heritage sites, food, culture and growing international connectivity, Cebu continues to attract travelers from the Philippines and around the world.

And behind every tourist arrival are opportunities for hotels, resorts, restaurants, tour operators, transport providers, local businesses, workers and communities across Cebu.

Cebu is growing. Cebu is moving. And Cebu remains one of the Philippines’ biggest tourism destinations. 💙🌴

October 7, 2026, | The Cebu Provincial Tourism Office (CPTO) and the Cebu Normal University (CNU) Tourism Management Department (TMD) formalized a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance research-driven and sustainable tourism development in Cebu Province.

Held at the Marcelo Fernan Hall, the MOU establishes a collaborative framework for the development of a Tourism Development Master Plan for Cebu Province, grounded in research, data, sustainability, and inclusivity.

Through the partnership, CNU will provide academic expertise and research support covering tourism resource inventory, baseline studies, data gathering and validation, data analysis, capacity-building, and tourism planning outputs.

Provincial Tourism Officer Rowena Lu Y. Montecillo underscored the importance of collaboration in creating a tourism roadmap that supports economic growth, community empowerment, cultural preservation, and environmental sustainability.

“We are confident that this collaboration will strengthen research-driven planning and help us address both present needs and future opportunities for Cebu tourism,” Montecillo said.

CNU President Dr. Laurence Garcia expressed gratitude to CPTO for choosing CNU as a partner in the undertaking, highlighting the university’s role not only as an educational institution but also as a heritage and tourism resource.

“CNU is not only a contributor for this but an important tourism resource in this area,” Dr. Garcia said, emphasizing the timely nature of the partnership.

With CPTO and CNU working together, Cebu takes another step toward a data-driven, inclusive, sustainable, and future-ready tourism industry, one that values not only destinations and experiences, but also the province’s rich heritage and communities.

This partnership supports the Cebu Provincial Government’s continuing commitment under the leadership of People's Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro to strengthen tourism planning and build a more sustainable and inclusive future for Cebu.

Nangandam karon ang Cebu Provincial Government alang sa labing unang pag-apil ni Governor Pam Baricuatro sa Inter Island Tourism Policy Forum kon ITOP, usa ka international tourism event sa Korea karong Oktubre, diin iyang i-report ang kahimtang sa tourism industry sa probinsya.

Sumala ni Weng Monticillo, Provincial Tourism Officer, miyembro ang Cebu sa usa ka organisasyon nga gilangkuban sa mga Island Tourism Provinces (ITOP), diin mokabat sa 12 ka mga probinsya sa lain-laing nasud ang miyembro.

Kabahin sa preparasyon ang pagdala og chef nga mag-feature sa usa ka pagkaon sa Cebu nga mahimong i-promote isip tourist experience sa Korea.

Dad-on usab ang tulo ka tour operators nga mga miyembro sa Cebu Tourism Council ug aktibo sa inbound tourism aron ipresentar ug ibaligya ang mga destinasyon ug tourism offerings sa Cebu.

Giplano usab ang pagdala og mga performers aron ipakita sa international audience ang mga festival ug cultural attractions sa probinsya.

Samtang, gi-finalize na usab sa Cebu ang pagdawat sa labing menos 15 ka Australian travel agents ug travel partners karong bulana, sa pakigtambayayong sa Department of Tourism ug Philippine Airlines.

Andam na ang itinerary alang sa maong grupo nga nagtumong sa pag-promote sa nagkalain-laing lungsod ug destinasyon sa Cebu ngadto sa Australian market.

Matud ni Montecillo, daghan ang ilang giatubang nga preparasyon ug mga hagit, apan giila nila kini isip positibong problema tungod sa nagkadaghang oportunidad alang sa tourism sector sa Cebu.
