* Report on alleged illegal fishing activities within the municipal waters of Catmon and Barangay Catmondaan
* Identification of commonly observed illegal fishing methods and activities
* Effects of illegal fishing on marine resources, fishermen’s livelihood, and coastal environment
* Concerns raised by local fisherfolk and residents
* Strengthening of coastal monitoring and sea patrol operations
* Coordination with Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, and local law enforcement agencies
* Proposed ordinances, penalties, and enforcement measures
* Community awareness and reporting mechanisms against illegal fishing

6. Recommendations and Action Plans -

Strengthen coastal and sea patrol operations, immediate response and enforcement operations against illegal fishing activities,

Organize a community-based Bantay Dagat or coastal watch group to assist in monitoring, reporting, and protecting marine resources within the barangay coastal areas,

Conduct information and education campaigns to raise awareness among fisherfolk and residents regarding the laws, penalties, and environmental impacts of illegal fishing,

Encourage residents and fisherfolk to immediately report suspicious fishing activities, use of explosives, toxic substances, illegal compressor fishing, and other prohibited methods to barangay officials and proper authorities.

Install warning signages in strategic coastal areas emphasizing the prohibition of illegal fishing activities and the corresponding penalties under existing fisheries laws and municipal ordinances.

Recommend the strict implementation of municipal fisheries ordinances and the filing of appropriate charges against individuals found violating fisheries and environmental laws.

COASTAL GEOHAZARD ADVISORY 📣
Barangay Catmondaan, Catmon, Cebu

A Coastal Geohazard Advisory is issued to remind all residents, especially those living near the shoreline, river mouths, and low-lying coastal areas, to stay alert against possible coastal hazards such as storm surge, coastal flooding, strong waves, shoreline erosion, and sea level rise.

These hazards may occur during heavy rains, typhoons, strong winds, or abnormal sea conditions. Residents are advised to avoid staying near the seashore during bad weather, secure boats and fishing equipment, monitor official weather updates, and follow evacuation instructions when necessary.

This advisory supports disaster preparedness and community safety under the Barangay Development Plan. It aims to protect lives, properties, livelihood, and coastal resources of Barangay Catmondaan.
