In celebration of Elderly Filipino Week 2026 and Alzheimer Awareness Day, NCSC - Region VII and the Australian-Filipino Community Services , in coordination with the Municipality of Madridejos, conducted a caravan of services for our senior citizens on 03 October 2026!

The memory screenings revealed little to no signs of dementia among participants—showing how strong social connection and island life keep our minds sharp! 🧠✨

Thank you to Mayor Engr. Romeo Villaceran, First Lady Violy Villaceran, Rep. Sun J. Shimura, and Board Members Kerrie Shimura and Nelson Mondigo, Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development , Cebu Province Provincial Health Office, PhilHealth Region VII , and MSWDO Madridejos, for supporting our seniors.

Our Lolos and Lolas remain a vital strength in our community! ❤️🇵🇭

EDUCATIONAL TOUR FOR SENIOR CITIZEN FEDERATED PRESIDENTS OF CEBU

As part of the Elderly Filipino Week 2026 celebration, the Department of Tourism Central Visayas Office (DOT VII) initiated the Educational Tour for Senior Citizen Federated Presidents of the Province of Cebu on October 6, 2026, with the participation and support of the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) Region VII.

The activity featured educational tours at IPI and Profood, followed by the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) Training, focusing on service excellence, effective communication, positive customer experience, and quality service delivery.

NCSC Region VII appreciates DOT Region VII for initiating this meaningful activity, providing senior citizen leaders an opportunity to learn, explore, and experience Cebu’s tourism industry, while encouraging their active and meaningful participation as tourism stakeholders.

NCSC - Region VII , in coordination with the Australian-Filipino Community Services , successfully celebrates Elderly Filipino Week 2026 and Alzheimer’s Awareness Day on October 3, 2026, in the beautiful island municipality of Madridejos, Cebu! 🏝️✨

Under the theme “Mga Katigulangang Pilipino: May Bili ug Katungod, May Tingog ug Padayung Nagtampo sa Nasod,” our seniors received health services, including:
🩺 Free Medical Check-up from the Department of Health - Central Visayas Center for Health Development
🚐 Mobile Diagnostics and Free Eyeglass from the Cebu Provincial Health Office (PHO)
📋 PhilHealth YAKAP Registration
🧠 Memory Screening by the National Center for Mental Health

The celebration was graced by Municipal Mayor Engr. Romeo Villaceran, First Lady Violy Villaceran, District Representative Sun J. Shimura, and Board Members Kerrie Shimura and Nelson Mondigo.

🎉 GREAT NEWS: Results from the NCMH memory screening revealed little to no signs of dementia among the participating seniors! This further proves that the active, tight-knit, and peaceful lifestyle in island communities like Madridejos plays a role in protecting cognitive health as we age. 🌿💪

💜 NCSC REGION VII FACILITATES CHAPTER PRESIDENTS MEETING OF SENIOR CITIZENS ASSOCIATION OF THE PHILIPPINES – TALISAY CITY, CEBU 💜

The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) Region VII facilitated a meeting with the Chapter Presidents of the Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines (SCAP) in Talisay City, Cebu, focusing on key initiatives that will further strengthen services and support for senior citizens in the city.

The meeting highlighted the proposed launching of the Senior Citizens Center, which aims to provide a dedicated space where senior citizens can access programs, activities, information, and support services that promote active and meaningful aging.

The discussion also focused on the digitalization of cash gift distribution, exploring more efficient and accessible mechanisms for the delivery of cash assistance to qualified senior citizens through digital and electronic channels.

NCSC Region VII continues to work closely with senior citizens’ organizations and local stakeholders to promote accessible, efficient, and responsive services, ensuring that the needs and welfare of senior citizens remain at the heart of public service.
