Demonstration of a Fire Extinguisher
On March 9, 2026, the Phoenix Responder Rising Team led a successful fire extinguisher demonstration to raise student awareness of fire safety and appropriate emergency response. The purpose of the exercise was to teach participants how to properly handle and use fire extinguishers in the event of a fire.
The MDDRMO's Mr. Wilfredo Anlocotan and his team led the demonstration, sharing their knowledge and instructing participants on how to use fire extinguishers correctly. Additionally, they highlighted the significance of prompt and accurate action during fire emergencies and demonstrated the PASS technique (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep).
The cooperation and enthusiastic involvement of both new and experienced responders, who helped to organize the demonstration and ensure its safety, made the event possible. Their cooperation made the event a success and gave everyone a worthwhile educational experience.
This activity reflects the organizationโs commitment to strengthening fire safety awareness, preparedness, and emergency response skills within the campus community.

Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar
Led by the Cordova Public College Clinic and the Gender and Development (GAD) unit, the Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar was held on October 8, 2025, at the Audio-Visual Room (AVR). The activity aimed to raise awareness on breast cancer prevention, early detection, and self-care practices among students and staff.
The program featured an insightful discussion conducted by Mrs. Lorefe F. Verallo, the College Nurse, who emphasized the importance of early detection through self-examination and timely consultation. She also emphasized the importance of preventive measures and the vital role of awareness in saving lives. The event was guided and supported by Mrs. Mariz Yagong and Mrs. Erica Dico, whose efforts contributed to its success.
The seminar was also made possible through the active participation of the new and old responders, who played a significant role in ensuring the smooth flow of the event. It was led by the Phoenix Chairman, Ms. Angelica Nassar, whose leadership and dedication inspired everyone to take part in promoting health awareness and advocacy.
This initiative reflected CPCโs commitment to promoting health education and gender-responsive programs, empowering the campus community to take active roles in supporting wellness and advocacy.

On September 19, 2025, the CPC Phoenix Responder Team successfully concluded the last day of the Basic Life Support (BLS) training for both new and returning members at the Audio-Visual Room. The training featured comprehensive sessions on splinting and bandaging techniques facilitated by Mr. Jefferson Restauro, followed by a return demonstration led by Mr. Julian Randreiu Legas.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our college nurse, Mrs. Lorefe F. Verallo, whose support and guidance made this meaningful event possible. Special thanks as well to our hosts, Ms. Meca Ella Artigas and Mr. Mike Raven Espejo, for ensuring the smooth flow of the program.

On September 18, 2025, Cordova Public College held the first day of its essential BLS Training Seminar at the Audio-Visual Room from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The training aimed to equip both new and seasoned responders with critical, life-saving skills. The session was attended by new Phoenix members and our dedicated veteran responders, and was also graced by the presence of our college nurse, Mrs. Lorefe F. Verallo.
The day began with Mr. Wilfredo D. Anlocutan, OIC-DRRMO, leading a session on disasters and calamities, followed by an in-depth First Aid and CPR training conducted by Mr. Rio Legas. Participants learned vital concepts such as the Emergency Action Principles, the Roles and Responsibilities of a First Aider, and the importance of a systematic approach to emergencies.
This event was a valuable opportunity for our student responders and new members to enhance their skills, fostering a more prepared and resilient campus community. Itโs truly inspiring to see them commit their time to learning life-saving techniques.
The seminar was hosted by Meca Ella Artigas in the morning and Mery Jelly Manatad in the afternoon.

The PHOENIX RESPONDER TEAM, together with the DRRMO, conducted calisthenics and physical training exercises for both the old members and the new Phoenix Responder applicants.
This activity aims to build discipline, improve endurance, and strengthen teamworkโpreparing every member to respond effectively in times of emergencies.

NEWS UPDATE | CORDOVA PUBLIC COLLEGE EARTHQUAKE DRILL
On September 11, 2025, at exactly 11:00 AM, Cordova Public College conducted its Earthquake Drill to strengthen preparedness and safety within the campus.
The drill was evaluated by the Philippine Coast Guard officers:

๐น SN1 Regei F. De Guzman, PCG
๐น SN2 Kemuel M. Busaing, PCG
together with the Cordova DRRMO.
During the AVR evaluation, PO2 Edgar E. Gonzales, PCG said that the drill may have shown a โlack of realism,โ but overall was good. He also gave his biggest thanks to the Phoenix Responders for their active participation.
All Phoenix Responders joined the drill, guided by College Nurse Lorefe Verallo, who instructed them on the proper actions to take during earthquakes.
CPC remains committed to readiness, safety, and disaster preparedness for the whole community.
