JUST IN: DTI Region 7 Acting Regional Director Esperanza Transfiguracion Melgar delivered a Comprehensive Report on the Shared Service Facilities (SSF) Community-based Biodiesel Plant for Farmers and Fisherfolks during the 2nd 2026 Regional Operations Group (ROG) Management Committee (MANCOM) Meeting on June 4, 2026.

The presentation highlighted an innovative and sustainable development model that empowers farming and fishing communities through renewable energy production, value-added processing, and livelihood generation. The initiative demonstrated how community-based biodiesel facilities can enhance local productivity, promote energy sustainability, and create additional economic opportunities for farmers and fisherfolk.

As a promising SSF initiative, the project was also presented as a potential model for replication across other DTI Regional Offices, supporting the Department’s efforts to foster inclusive growth, strengthen community enterprises, and advance sustainable development nationwide.

Central Visayas Takes the Spotlight at IFEX Philippines 2026, Wins Best Regional Booth Presentation

METRO MANILA — DTI Region 7 Central Visayas proudly showcased the region’s exceptional and world-class products at the International Food Exhibition (IFEX) Philippines 2026, held at the World Trade Center Metro Manila from 21–23 May 2026.

Bringing together premium delicacies, innovative food creations, and export-ready specialty products, the region’s delegation highlighted the excellence, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit of Central Visayas MSMEs — elevating local flavors to a wider global market and reinforcing the region’s position as a key player in the Philippine food export landscape.

DTI Region 7 was honored with the prestigious KATHA Award for Best Regional Booth Presentation, recognizing the outstanding creativity and presentation of the Central Visayas pavilion in partnership with the DTI - Design Center of the Philippines.

Inspired by the iconic Cebuano “pungko-pungko” dining culture, the booth transformed a familiar local street food experience into a vibrant and immersive showcase of regional identity. Through native design elements, warm textures, and curated product displays, the pavilion captured the authenticity, innovation, and rich culinary heritage of Central Visayas — earning praise for its unique storytelling and engaging visitor experience.

As one of the country’s premier international trade exhibitions for food and beverage, IFEX Philippines serves as a dynamic platform for promoting Central Visayas’ diverse and innovative food products — highlighting the creativity, quality, and global competitiveness of the region’s MSMEs.🇵🇭

BOHOL - DTI Bohol with the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), convened the Bohol Investment Assistance Network (BIAN) Forum 2026: “One-Stop Solutions for the Local Furniture Industry,” alongside the DENR Express: Permitting on Wheels at the Ceremonial Hall of the New Provincial Capitol.

The forum gathered representatives from DENR Region 7, DTI, provincial offices, furniture makers, and industry stakeholders to address long-standing concerns on environmental compliance, permitting processes, raw material sourcing, and sustainable livelihood opportunities for the local furniture industry.
