Visayan Electric utilizes various state-of-the-art technologies in its operations to improve its efficiency and service. It uses a SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system to monitor and control its electric distribution assets via remote control. It also has a GIS (Geographic Information System) to map and manage its facilities. Visayan Electric is owned and managed by publicly listed Aboitiz Power Corporation (PSE: AP) and Vivant Corporation. Approximately 800 individual shareholders comprise the Visayan Electric shareholders' roster.

Please be informed that we are currently experiencing power supply limitations affecting parts of our service area.

Due to the limited power supply across the Visayas grid, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has instructed Visayan Electric to execute manual load dropping (deloading). As a result, rotational brownouts may be implemented to keep the overall power system stable and prevent wider outages.

We are closely monitoring the situation in coordination with NGCP and our power suppliers to restore normal operations as quickly and safely as possible.

8 plants are on forced outage on October, 2 plants since September, 3 plants since August, 1 plant since June, 3 plants since May, 3 plants since 2025, 1 plants since 2024, 2 plants since 2023, and 1 plant since 2021, while 19 plants are running on derated capacities, for a total of 606.6MW unavailable to the grid.

Factor/s that contributed to the RED and YELLOW Alert declaration:

1. Unavailability of Visayasโ€™ large coal plants PEDC 3 and KSPC 1.
2. Limited power imports from Mindanao due to the planned outages of GNPK 4, TSI 2, and unplanned outages of TSI 1 and Pulangi 4 U2

A red alert status is issued when power supply is insufficient to meet consumer demand and the transmission gridโ€™s regulating requirement.

A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission gridโ€™s contingency requirement.

Through this initiative, Visayan Electric turned over essential emergency response equipmentโ€”including complete fireman's PPE, heavy-duty fire extinguishers, emergency lights, and medical kitsโ€”to local leaders and volunteer responders.
