Join the City of Cebu with the Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission in commemorating the 129th Martyrdom of our national hero on December 30, 2025, at 9:00 AM at the Rizal Monument, No. 1 Jose Rizal Street. This year’s commemoration centers on the theme, "Rizal: Sa Pagbangon ng Mamamayan, Aral at Diwa Mo ang Tunay na Gabay."

This annual event honors the birth of the former Mayor of Cebu City, Governor of Cebu Province, and Senator of the Republic of the Philippines.

Join the 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗲𝗯𝘂, through the 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, in celebrating the 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 of the brave 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿é𝘀 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼, at Bonifacio Monument, Plaza Independencia, Cebu City this Sunday, November 30, 2025.

The Museum Section conducted a brief orientation on CULTURAL MAPPING for our interns, which included Grade 12 HUMSS students from Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion Inc. Cebu and Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management students from the University of the Visayas. The topic focused on Tangible Movable Heritage and Significant Personalities. Also, Handling Museum Objects and Agents of Deterioration was discussed.

The Cultural and Historical Affairs Office of Cebu City joins the nation in celebrating the Museum and Galleries Month 2025, anchored on the theme “𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆.”

This observance renews our commitment to safeguard and preserve our heritage.

On the eve of this celebration, Cebu was struck by a 6.9-magnitude earthquake that caused severe damage to many of our cherished heritage churches, sites, and structures and deeply affected the lives of our fellow Cebuanos.

This tragedy stands as a solemn reminder of the importance of resilience, preparedness, and solidarity in protecting our cultural treasures.

Together, let us honor the collective memory of our people and strengthen our cultural institutions for generations to come.
