The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office VII successfully conducted a Mini Sports Fest, dubbed Laro ng Lahi, as part of the celebration of CHED's 32nd Anniversary with the theme, โThriving Together Through Sports: Championing Health, Wellness, and Unity.โ
The activity brought together CHED RO VII personnel in a day filled with fun, friendly competition, and team-building activities that fostered camaraderie, wellness, and unity among employees.
The program commenced with a mini parade led by Regional Director Filomena T. Dayagbil, followed by the presentation of team yells from the four participating teamsโRed, Blue, Orange, and Yellow. The raising of team banners further energized the participants and showcased the spirit and enthusiasm of each group.
The celebration then proceeded with the game proper, featuring traditional Filipino games under both men's and women's categories. Participants competed in various events such as Takyan, Hula Hoop, Dama, Sungka, Dampa, Litik, Charades, and Jackstone, highlighting teamwork, strategy, agility, and sportsmanship.
Adding excitement to the event was a singing competition where each team performed a Cebuano song, allowing employees to showcase their musical talents while celebrating the regionโs rich cultural heritage.
In her message, Regional Director Dr. Filomena T. Dayagbil emphasized that the strength of the Commission lies in the diversity and uniqueness of its people. She noted that every individual plays an essential role in the organization and that CHED would not be complete without the contribution of each employee.
She further underscored the importance of embracing one anotherโs differences, recognizing that these unique qualities collectively contribute to the success of the organization. Dr. Dayagbil also highlighted the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and camaraderie, encouraging everyone to continue working together toward a stronger and more united CHED community.
The Mini Sports Fest served not only as a celebration of CHED's 32 years of service but also as a meaningful opportunity to strengthen bonds among employees while promoting health, wellness, and unity within the organization.

The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VII (CHEDRO VII) joined fellow government agencies in Central Visayas in the conduct of the Unified Flag Ceremony and the celebration of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Anniversary held at the DENR VII Covered Court.
Anchored on the theme, โInspired by Nature: For Climate, For Our Future. Sama-samang Kilos para sa Klima at Kinabukasan,โ the event gathered representatives from various national government agencies across Region VII in a collective demonstration of commitment to environmental protection, climate action, and sustainable development.
The program commenced with an assembly and foot parade, followed by the Unified Flag Ceremony and the recitation of patriotic pledges. Participating agencies also provided updates on their respective environmental initiatives and expressed their support highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing climate and environmental challenges.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the Agency Cheer and Yell Competition, where participating agencies showcased their creativity, enthusiasm, and advocacy for environmental stewardship. CHEDRO VII delivered an energetic presentation emphasizing its unwavering support for DENRโs programs and initiatives, while promoting climate responsibility and environmental care among higher education institutions and communities.
Demonstrating teamwork and strong advocacy, CHEDRO VII earned Second Place in the competition, a testament to the officeโs commitment to advancing environmental awareness and sustainability efforts.
The celebration concluded with the awarding ceremony and the singing of the DENR Hymn, reinforcing the shared responsibility of government agencies in safeguarding the environment and building a climate-resilient future for generations to come.

The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VII (CHEDRO VII), in parternship with the Association of the International Relations Officers in Region 7 (AIRO R7) and University of the Visayas, conducts the seminar-workshop titled "Diplomatic Protocol in Higher Education: Strengthening Internationalization Readiness of HEIs in Region VII" at the University of the Visayas-Main Campus, manifesting its continued commitment to advancing internationalization in higher education.
The said undertaking gathers higher education institutions' representatives across Central Visayas to provide practical knowledge and guidance on diplomatic protocol, official correspondence, courtesy calls, international engagements, and other protocol-sensitive institutional activities essential in strengthening global academic partnerships and collaborations.
The activity aims to enhance the readiness and capability of HEIs in navigating international academic environments through proper professional and diplomatic conduct. Participants are being equipped with valuable insights on fostering meaningful international relations while upholding institutional integrity and cultural sensitivity.
Breakout sessions scheduled this afternoon will further initiate strategic discussions on the essential pillars of higher education internationalization, proper branding and positioning in the global arena, and the broader directions, challenges, and opportunities surrounding the internationalization of higher education in Central Visayas.

The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VII participated in the Executive Session of the 17th Sangguniang Panlungsod of Cebu City held on May 4, 2026, at the Don Vicente Sotto Session Hall, Legislative Building, Cebu City Hall.
CHEDRO VII was invited as a resource speaker during the discussion relative to the educational challenges of the youth from the mountain barangays of Cebu City and the formulation of a unified plan of action to address these concerns.
Representing CHEDRO VII in the activity were Dr. Johnny J. Yao Jr., Supervising Education Program Specialist and Ms. Melissa L. Castillote, Education Supervisor II, who took part in the discussions together with members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod and other stakeholders.
The executive session served as a venue for collaborative dialogue among concerned agencies and partners in identifying strategies and interventions that would help improve access to education and support for learners in geographically challenged communities.
Through its participation, CHEDRO VII reaffirmed its commitment to advancing inclusive, accessible, and quality higher education opportunities for all Filipino learners, particularly those from underserved sectors and communities.

The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VII, through its UniFAST personnel, participated in the orientation and discussion on the revised guidelines for the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) and Tulong Dunong Program (TDP).
Representing CHEDRO VII in the activity were UniFAST Focal Person Ms. Melissa L. Castillote, UniFAST Accountant, and UniFAST Lead Regional Coordinators/Project Technical Staff III Mr. Ralph Caรฑacao and Ms. Ruth Adorable.
The activity focused on discussing the salient features, amendments, and implementing provisions of the revised TES and TDP Guidelines. Participants were likewise oriented on updated policies, operational procedures, documentary requirements, timelines, and compliance mechanisms to further strengthen the implementation of the programs.
Moreover, the orientation aimed to standardize the understanding and application of the revised guidelines across all regions to promote uniformity and consistency in program implementation nationwide. The discussions also addressed implementation issues, operational gaps, and policy concerns encountered in previous cycles while providing guidance on appropriate resolutions and best practices.
Through this initiative, CHEDRO VII reaffirms its commitment to ensuring efficient, transparent, and responsive delivery of student financial assistance programs in support of accessible and quality higher education for Filipino learners.
