The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has officially declared the termination of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) season effective 05 October 2026.

The declaration follows the observed weakening of the southwest monsoon, a decrease in associated rainfall, the strengthening of the high-pressure system over East Asia, and the southward migration of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

With the end of the Habagat season also marking the termination of the rainy season over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas, the Office of Civil Defense VI (OCD VI) reminds the public to remain weather-aware and continue monitoring official advisories from PAGASA and other concerned agencies.

Stay informed. Stay prepared. Stay safe, Western Visayas!
