As a Member of Parliament, I rise to express my utmost condemnation and profound outrage regarding the cowardly and treacherous ambush targeting the convoy of Bangsamoro Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua. The attack, which occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, along the highway in Barangays Bito, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, is a direct assault on the peace, stability, and future of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

This malicious act of violence is not merely an attempt on the life of a single leader; it is an assault on the collective aspirations of our people who have tirelessly fought and sacrificed for self-determination, governance, and lasting peace in our homeland.

We cannot allow the forces of lawlessness, fear, and division to derail the significant gains of our peace process. I call upon the law enforcement agencies and security forces to conduct a swift, thorough, and uncompromising investigation to unmask the perpetrators and bring them to justice swiftly. Such criminal elements must find no sanctuary in our communities.

In this critical hour, I earnestly appeal to all leaders, traditional elders, religious figures, and the resilient people of Cotabato and Maguindanao to remain calm, vigilant, and steadfast. Let us not be swayed by rumors or provocations designed to sow discord among us.

Peace is our shared responsibility. Together, let us keep safe, watch over one another, and resolutely defend the peace that we have so painfully built. Violence has no place in the BARMM.

COMELEC, INATASAN ANG PNP AT AFP NA MAGSAGAWA NG MASUSING IMBESTIGASYON SA AMBUSH SA CONVOY NI BARMM CHIEF MINISTER MACACUA

Pinaiimbestigahan ni Commission on Elections Chairman George Erwin Garcia sa Philippine National Police at Armed Forces of the Philippines ang pag-ambush sa convoy ni BARMM Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua nitong Sabado.

Ayon kay Garcia, kailangang agad matukoy ang mga nasa likod ng insidente at mapanagot sa batas, election-related man ito o hindi.

Nasa biyahe ang convoy ni Macacua mula Kabuntalan patungong Cotabato City nang pagbabarilin ito ng mga armadong suspek dakong alas-4:45 ng hapon sa Barangay Bitu, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.

Ligtas at walang sugat si Macacua, ngunit tinamaan ng ilang bala ang kaniyang armored vehicle, kabilang ang bahagi sa driver’s side. Tinamaan din ang dalawa pang armored vehicle ng convoy.

Samantala, ilang oras bago ang insidente, naantala rin ang mga dumalo sa aktibidad ng Bangsamoro Federalist Party sa Kabuntalan matapos inspeksyunin ng bomb experts ang mga hinihinalang improvised explosive device sa Barangay Payan.

Sa nasabing aktibidad, pormal na sumapi si Macacua sa BFP at nahalal bilang chairman at president ng partido.
