True Colors Coalition - Pilipinas This is our True Colors. What's yours? Join Us. Educate. Unite. Struggle. Be Free. LGBTs face different kinds of discrimination based on our SOGIE.

True Colors Coalition is a political LGBT organization based in the Philippines; we are a member organization of the Kilusan para sa Pambansang Demokrasya (Movement for National Democracy). Established in January of 2015, TCC started campaigning for the justice for Jennifer Laude defined as one of our major campaigns. Though we are still in the process of building the organization, we were able to have some activities to continue calling for justice for Jennifer Laude through mobilizations, candle lighting events, and continuous discussions about the case. We were able to develop a module for a Gender Sensitivity Awareness focusing on the LGBT community and right now, we are on the process of disseminating the training to all the members, and allies. As a political organization, TCC believes that the whole LGBT struggle is a political struggle. It is beyond the gender-based and health-related concern; we firmly believe that the LGBT struggle goes through the gender, class, and national oppression. It doubles as our being part of different sectors in the society like how LGBT workers are one of the firsts to be fired from companies every time they want to or how the grassroots LGBT get to be denied of their rights for health cares and being discriminated due to their being LGBTs and them being poor. Lastly, as Filipino LGBTs, we are one of the most vulnerable people in terms of how the third world countries are being treated and viewed by the capitalist powers – let’s take the case of Jennifer Laude for example. With that being said, TCC steadfastly stands on various LGBT and other sectoral concerns like:

The Anti-Discrimination Bill that will criminalize all discriminatory acts against the LGBT people, in the last few years, the LGBT community have experienced numerous hate crimes – especially the trans community, this bill will help in addressing our safety concerns and will reaffirm our rights to live free from prejudgment and prejudice based on our SOGIE;

The HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness in the country as we believe that the government has the responsibility to comprehensively address this matter in terms of preventing the spread of the virus, more so, wipe out the stigma about the virus and the thinking that it is a “gay disease”;

The legalization of marriage equality, TCC believes that it is our human, political, and civil right to enjoy the rights and benefits of legally married couples like employment and health benefits, legal adoption as married couples, and other conjugal properties that heterosexual couples have as they get married;

We also believe that labor contracting policy will make the workers’ lives harder and more difficult as this denies our right to job security;

TCC stand against the commercialization and privatization of the education, that it is a right of everyone to have equal access to education;

We are also against the continued presence of US Military Forces in the Philippines, the joint Balikatan (Shoulder-to-shoulder) Exercises between the Philippines and the US put women, children, and LGBTs in danger as they continue to have us become victims of militarization and exposing us more to sexual, physical, and other abuses;

TCC aims to have the LGBT community, especially the Filipino LGBTs, to go back to basic, meaning to have every LGBT know that the whole people’s struggle is our struggle. We want to have the LGBT involve in the fight for a society with equality and free from all kinds of discrimination – a society with no people’s oppression.

INDONESIA CLASSIFIES LGBT CULTURE AS 'THREAT'

A regional human rights organization has expressed grave concern over Indonesia’s classification of the alleged “dissemination of LGBTQ culture” as a “non-military threat,” saying the move could legitimize discrimination and state repression against LGBTQ people.

🩸Trigger Warning: Violence, Death🩸

As communities around the world celebrate Pride Month, we are once again confronted with a painful reminder that many transgender people continue to face violence simply for existing.

Bella Lutap, a 20-year-old trans woman from Nueva Ecija, was found dead after being missing for nearly three days. Her body was discovered in an irrigation area, naked, covered with a sack of rice and rocks, and in a condition that made her almost unrecognizable. She was last seen with her ex boyfriend. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.

During a month meant to honor the resilience, dignity, and humanity of LGBTQIA+ people, Bella's brutal killing reminds us that Pride is not only a celebration. It is also a call for justice, safety, and accountability. 🕯️

We remember Ali, Kierra, Shalani, Ren, Cheska, Teacher Dan, Ampaw, Elie, and many other transgender lives lost to violence whose names too often fade from public attention. Bella's death is not an isolated tradegy. It is part of continuing crisis demands accountability, protection and urgent action.

STRAP stands in solidarity with Bella, her family, loved ones, and the trans community as we call for a thorough investigation and justice for her death. We refuse to let Bella become just another statistic. Her life mattered. Her story matters. And her death demands answers. ✊🏼

BREAKING🚨🏳️‍🌈 Coachella just SOLD OUT its q***r fans to MAGA Republicans for $850,000 — and I have the RECEIPTS.

While tens of thousands of q***r fans were dancing at Coachella this weekend — wearing rainbows, dancing to q***r artists, and trying not to faint when Madonna showed up — Coachella's billionaire owner Philip Anschutz was writing six-figure checks to anti-LGBTQ politicians and hate groups.

Here's EXACTLY where your ticket money went:

💸 $250,000 to the Super PAC keeping Republicans in Senate control while they push dozens of anti-LGBTQ clauses into federal spending bills as I type this.

💸 $125,000 to the Republican Governors Association whose governors signed a record number of anti-trans laws last year and are blocking trans healthcare access for kids AND adults across the country.

💸 $100,000 to the Republican Attorneys General Association — the same group that SUED to strip LGBTQ+ student protections in schools, threatened Target for selling Pride merchandise, and helped install Pam Bondi, who spent her entire career as AG waging open war on trans people.

That's NOT a coincidence.

In 2017, reporting EXPOSED Philip Anschutz's foundation had donated to the vile ‘Alliance Defending Freedom’ — the group that has literally compared being LGBTQ to In**st — and the Family Research Council, a federally designated hate group. His response? He called it "fake news." He said he stopped.

He DID NOT stop. He just got quieter about it. Now the checks are even bigger.

Here's what makes this especially infuriating: the artists on those stages are fighting back!!!

Sabrina Carpenter — the HEADLINER — donates $1 per ticket to the Transgender Law Center and called Trump's use of her music in ICE arrest videos "evil and disgusting." Karol G spoke out about her Latino community being terrorized. These artists are doing the right thing. Then the profits go upstairs to a man who funds the machine terrorizing those same communities.

This is where the money goes. EVERY. YEAR.

I'm not here to shame anyone who went. Joy is resistance. Community matters. But we deserve to make decisions with our eyes open not under a fog of marketing designed to make us feel safe while the owner bankrolls our oppression.

So what do we do? We make it expensive to play both sides. We track the donations. We name the donors. We pressure the artists and sponsors to demand accountability. We make "Coachella" synonymous with corporate betrayal until Anschutz stops writing homophobic checks or stops pretending his festival is a "safe space" for us.

Thank you so much for being here with me.
